Today we’d like to introduce you to Jana Bunge.
Hi Jana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My father was a hairdresser – so I’ve grown up in and around the beauty business! I’ve been a working professional in this industry since 1984. With a background in commercial, video and print work – I began to include providing makeup & hairstyling for weddings in the early 2000’s. As the years progressed, I’ve added makeup/hair artists to our team. We service Ventura, Santa Barbara, LA and Orange Counties – and are so blessed to have the most wonderful brides and bridal parties. We feel honored to share in the most important day of their lives!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a steady road…sometimes smooth and oftentimes very rocky! Overcoming obstacles is part of this industry. Especially navigating with our brides throughout the Covid pandemic and beyond – the most important thing to remember…our goal is to meet/surpass the needs of our clients. Building and nurturing relationships with clients, fellow vendors and artist teams is what makes our business blossom!

Jana and Co. Makeup and Hair Design provides on site hairstyling and makeup for weddings & special events, as well as photoshoots, video and commercial projects. We are known for our quality work, personable artist teams and meeting and surpassing the needs of each client we come in contact with. I am proud and humbled to be part of this amazing industry! We strive to do our best to create an atmosphere of calm during what can often be a very stressful time in the life of a bride to be. The prep/”pre-production” work that I do prior to any event is what I believe sets us apart from many other companies. Creating a specific timeline, storyboard of our clients and vision pics – and especially having our artist teams arrive on site fully prepared (i.e., tables, chairs, electrical, all equipment and products, etc.). All of this combined with create an ultimate work atmosphere and seamless wedding day.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
First and foremost – be a person of integrity! Having integrity means doing the right thing in a reliable way. It means “wholeness of character” – having a moral compass that doesn’t waver. People of integrity and honesty not only practice what they preach, they ARE what they preach. And I’m blessed to have team members with integrity, talent, passion and energy! Secondly – this IS a service business. It’s NOT about ME or my team members! The ultimate goal with Jana and Co. is to meet the needs of our clients, nurture and build relationships and never stop learning and cultivating our craft.
