Inspiring Conversations with Jamie David of StarMama, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie David

Hi Jamie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Of course! Thank you so much for having me. I’m a bit of a rare breed – I was born and, for the most part, raised in LA. I’ve tried many things in this life – I’ve been the lead singer of an LA based rock band, ran a family business… I was also a massage therapist at one point. I’ve always been attracted to the esoteric. Things like astrology and tarot have always fascinated me, as well as the healing arts. When my son was born in the very midst of the pandemic, something urged me to learn these things more extensively. My journey really deepened in postpartum. I would rock my son to sleep and he would nap on me as I memorized the language of astrology and learned how to read birth charts. Not too long after that, I started doing readings for anyone I could – family, friends, and friends of friends. I became obsessed with discovering a person’s personality through their birth chart, and connecting with them over their unique natal aspects. So much so that I opened my own astrology and tarot business, and started offering these services professionally.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Unfortunately, there are many, many people still uncomfortable with astrology and tarot. Last year I started posting daily collective 3 card pull reels on Instagram, as a way to increase my visibility, grow my following and gain more clients. I posted almost every day all last year. My views increased and I was able to get some lovely clients from those reels. But, the more visibility you get, the more negativity you get as well. Sadly, there is a lot of misogyny out there, as well as people who think that astrology and tarot are evil. I don’t want to give the negative comments more attention than they deserve. I know what I believe and that’s what matters. I also know that’s part of the price you pay when you put yourself out there like that, but I will say that it did cause me to take a step back with social media. I think we all need to practice healthy boundaries with social media. And as someone that also wants to grow my business, I am figuring out how to navigate that space in a healthy, balanced way.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Astrology and tarot can be incredibly validating, and can serve as powerful, effective tools in change and transformation. In my astrology and tarot readings, when a client leaves the reading, my hope is that they will feel seen, validated and motivated to make positive change with the awareness and insight gained during our time together. I specialize in life transitions and women’s issues, including the journey into motherhood and postpartum. With each reading, I bring with me my extensive experience holding space for others. I have quite a few offerings on my website, with my most popular offering being a Birth Chart Reading. We spend 50 minutes together having a conversation all about your personality, your purpose, and what you’re here to learn in this life. We also get into any current transits and your current astrology forecast, so-to-speak, as well as practical tools you can apply to your life as soon as we end the reading. That way, not only is the reading insightful, but you can walk away with tangible tips of how to apply what was learned. We dive deep into your very essence, what makes you unique and one of a kind. I also have a Patreon monthly membership, where I currently have 3 tiers of offerings. I provide weekly extended collective readings on there, personalized monthly tarot forecasts, as well as monthly phone calls for consultation. I can be found on instagram for those that want to keep up with me more regularly. I’ve wanted to help people in some way, since I can remember. I love astrology and tarot because it just makes sense. It speaks to the parts of us that are often misunderstood and abandoned, and invites in understanding and self-compassion. I believe when we accept ourselves fully, we can then begin to change.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was born in the valley, Tarzana to be exact. Told you I’m an LA native! My first years in the world were in Malibu. My mother was a personal assistant to celebrities when I was born, and my father was new to the states. He came to America from Switzerland to be an entrepreneur. My parents divorced when I was 3, and I moved around a lot. That was hard, and more often than not, unstable. I spent a lot of time in my imagination, and it was hard for me to focus in the classroom. I often fell behind because I would daydream in class. Often I felt alien, or like I just didn’t fit in or belong. My passion growing up was singing. I would come home from school, line my stuffed animals up and sing my heart out. When I hit my teen years, I rebelled pretty hard. My father was set on me going to college, but I just wanted to sing and pursue music. I auditioned and got into a rock band when I was 18. The band became my family, and we went on to live together, perform live, and make music for the next few years. I still went to school and went as far as to get my masters degree. I’ve grown to love trying new things in life and wearing different hats. I don’t think we are meant to do just one thing in this life. In many ways, I am still growing up, and still finding myself. I aspire to be a guide in helping others do the same.
