Inspiring Conversations with Hershel Abram Strother II of Hershel Strother Home Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hershel Abram Strother II.

Hi Hershel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
They say, “plant a seed and watch it grow.” At an early age, I discovered two things that would that would define my journey and bring tremendous joy and purpose to my life. First, I was introduced to the world of real estate development by my grandfather the late Wilbur L. Lewis who founded Lewis Bros, Inc. In 1946 and employed 150 workers. Second, I was introduced to the universal language of music by my brother the late Leslie Jon Thomas who shared with me his gift of drums and percussion.

Who knew years later while I was working towards a career in the fire department, real estate and music would be a calling I just couldn’t ignore or set aside.

Signed Sealed Delivered Signing Services was a mortgage signing company that would end up being my first business venture in the world of real estate.

The beautiful thing about real estate was it afforded me the luxury of time to pursue my love for music at night so I started creating original music, supporting pop artists and EDM DJs as a drummer, licensing my music to NBC/Universal television shows, touring and playing many popular venues in the US such as House of Blues and County Fairs just to name a few.

In 2014, I started my career as a Luxury Real Estate Advisor with Coldwell Banker La Jolla Office.

In 2015, I had the opportunity to Co-host “The Real Deal” on KCBQ 1170 AM “The Answer” with my Real Estate Broker at the time to bring all the latest news in real estate, politics and entertainment. After our contract was over, we were fortunate to continue “The Real Deal” on ESPN 1700 AM.

In 2017, I became a Luxury Real Estate Broker and founded Hershel Strother Home Services in La Jolla, California.

In 2019, I opened Hershel Strother Home Services in Newport Beach.

In 2021, I opened Hershel Strother Home Services in Beverly Hills.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing good is easy and nothing easy ever lasts! I believe one of the greatest challenges in life is to surpass yourself and the three FFF’s fail-forward-fast.

As an entrepreneur, you have to get comfortable feeling uncomfortable sometimes and growth has a funny way of taking us out of our comfort zone and placing us on one of life’s famous roller coasters called “ebb and flow.”

One of my biggest challenges in life that still remains is creating a balance between spending more time with my mother and my father who has been battling terminal cancer and maintaining my role as a Luxury Real Estate Broker and Entertainer. Life can sometimes be a juggling act but when you hire the right people who complement and support your vision, the challenges become manageable to overcome.
