Inspiring Conversations with Gonzalo Olmedo of Gonnzzcam Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gonzalo Olmedo.

Hi Gonzalo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started filming back in high school, just capturing memories and making videos for my friends. I didn’t think much of it at the time, I was just having fun, but that was the first time I used editing software to bring a story to life. I’ve always loved watching behind-the-scenes footage of movies, curious about how everything worked. That curiosity stuck with me.

The moment that really lit the fire, though, was when I competed on Fear Factor. Being on set and witnessing how everything operated behind the scenes, the crew, the cameras, the energy, that’s when I told myself, “I’m going to do whatever it takes to be part of this world and build my own media company.”

One of the first projects that made me truly proud was being part of a short film and seeing my name in the credits, and having my family there to witness it. That moment hit different. It felt like confirmation that I was on the right path.

Gonnzzcam came to life after trying out a few ventures and even teaming up with different business partners. But nothing felt as important or personal as building something of my own. The name actually came from people calling me “Gonz” — and it stuck.

As I’ve grown, so has my “why.” Being a husband and a dad now, having a little mini-me looking up to me, it’s changed everything. It pushes me to do the right thing, work ten times harder, and show him what chasing a dream really looks like.

Honestly, it’s not just one project that makes me proud. It’s every client who walks away happy, knowing their vision came to life. That’s the real win for me.

Of course, the hardest part is the unknown — not knowing what the next month or year looks like financially. But I’ve learned to adapt, keep pushing, and trust that the work will speak for itself.

If I could go back and tell myself one thing, it’d be this: Treat it like a business from the start. Know your value. That mindset shift can change everything.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road and honestly, I think that’s part of what makes the journey real. One of the biggest struggles has been the financial uncertainty that comes with building something on your own. Every month can look completely different, and there’s never a guarantee of what the year will bring. Learning how to adapt, stay creative, and keep things moving forward, even when things are unclear — has been one of the hardest but most important lessons.

Another challenge has been navigating the early stages of treating this like a real business. When you start out just doing what you love, it’s easy to undervalue yourself or not set things up properly. I learned sometimes “the hard way” how important it is to know your worth, create structure, and operate professionally from the beginning.

And of course, balancing business and family life isn’t always easy. But having a family, especially my son, has also been my biggest motivation. He watches everything I do, and that pushes me to go harder, make the right moves, and build something that lasts.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Gonnzzcam Productions?
At Gonnzzcam Production, I specialize in professional video and photo content that tells a story, whether it’s for brands, content creators, live events, or personal projects. My work goes beyond just capturing visuals — I focus on creating emotional impact, making sure every frame has meaning, and that the final product reflects the vision of the client in the most authentic way possible.

I’m known for my attention to detail, storytelling, and ability to adapt to any environment, whether it’s a fast-paced live event, a cinematic brand shoot, or a personal project with emotional weight. I also offer social media management and real-time content creation, helping clients not only capture the moment, but also share it effectively with their audience.

What I’m most proud of isn’t one single video or project — it’s the consistent happiness and trust of the people I work with. Knowing that I’ve helped bring their ideas to life and made them feel seen and heard through my work, that’s what makes it worth it.

What sets me apart is the heart behind the camera. I treat every project like it’s my own, and I’m constantly evolving, always learning, always improving, and always pushing myself to do better. I don’t just press record I connect, I care, and I make sure the final product reflects the passion and energy we started with.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
During the Covid-19 crisis, the scariest part was the unknown. No one really knew what to believe, what was safe, or how long things would last. Families were separated, people were isolated, and life as we knew it just stopped. That time really made me appreciate what we used to call a “normal life” being able to travel, go on vacations, or simply spend time with loved ones without fear.

It shifted my perspective completely. I realized how much I had taken for granted, especially when it came to time with family. It reminded me that life isn’t just about chasing work or success, it’s about the moments we get with the people we love. Covid taught me to slow down a bit, to be present, and to make sure I’m not just building a business, but also building memories and living a meaningful life.
