Today we’d like to introduce you to Federica Levrero.
Federica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a searcher or re-searcher according to one of my closest friends, I keep looking, studying, and finding different ways of thinking and living. I founded FAD Connection thanks to my searches and the pandemic in 2020. By that time, I had 11 years of working as an education advisor, promoting cultural exchange and study abroad but had no brand. So, my ancestor’s survival roots arise and I created FAD Connection, a global platform for fashion, art & design education, in order to keep working virtually. Born and raised in Uruguay, I was exposed to diverse cultures and languages from a young age, as my family owns a travel agency. Grandmother French, grandfather German, the language mix was high and the number of trips per year, -for that time- was huge, however, at my age of 17 I had no clue what I wanted to study, nor what my passion was. I went to a vocational psychologist, and my report said I should take an artistic path. This was blow minding since I had cero artistic gifts. Having to choose what to study, where to study, what I wanted to do, was a struggle for me, so, I took the traditional path. Business, and without knowing, I was embarked in a multi-stop journey to find my dream career. On that journey, I studied business, marketing, advertising and coaching and created FAD Connection. Through this journey, I discovered my mission to guide teenagers in selecting the right university and destination to follow their vocation. I believe that creative education and cultural exchange are vital for personal and philosophical expansion and that the world needs more creative thinkers. Today there is scientific backup that supports the benefits of creativity for our life and this has become our mission.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Once you know what you want to do, say and be, the obstacles become motivations to improve and push your work. The biggest challenge is to find what you want to do for a living. I’m sure anybody between 16 and 20 years can understand the feeling of having tons of interests, but not knowing what path to take, or the opposite, having cero interests and the very high pressure of parents wanting us to know what we have to study, work, do or be. I remember listening to ted talks or reading articles, and the word “mentor” always came up. “Find a mentor to guide you”. And I knew this was important since everybody that I looked up for, recommended mentors, but where do I find a mentor? At my young age, I had no idea. FAD Connection is the answer to my personal search. We have a group of trusted mentors that guide teenagers on their paths. We want to make their journey smoother; we help them build their personal brand book to know themselves better and make better career decisions.
We’ve been impressed with FAD Connection, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
FAD Connection is a coaching and mentoring platform specialized in fashion, art, and design education. With the mission to promote creative education through cultural exchange, we guide the new generations in the often-complex journey of selecting the right academy and destination to follow their vocation. In ongoing internationalization, FAD Connection is the representative of the world’s most prestigious colleges in the art fields, such as the University of the Arts London – Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion – Istituto Marangoni, New York Film Academy, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and twenty-one art institutes based in France. Shaped by a team of entrepreneurs, coaches, and mentors, we guide students in brainstorming their aspirations, sketching their study paths, and designing key presentation pieces, such as portfolios. We are very proud of our 2023 reviews: “FAD has helped connecting me with a broader aspect of educational possibilities” Mora Trivelloni – Fashion Styling and Creative Director – Istituto Marangoni, Milan. “I moved to Paris to continue my studies in photography. Now I’m here and I feel the same way I felt during my year in New York. I walk around with my camera and can’t get enough of it. I want to photograph everything and everyone. My creativity is active again. María Elena Trajtenberg – Bachelor Arts Photography – Paris College of Arts, Paris. FAD. Mentors, for sure, are extremely helpful to start an application for studying abroad. Carolina Blaquier – Filmmaking – New York Film Academy, NY
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I want to collaborate with individuals and institutions that believe in the power of creativity and want to transform communities by promoting education in fashion, art, design, music, film, and performing arts. My mantra is Creativity = Libertad. And starts with education. I promote education in creative arts and by consequence, free soles that can live of their work, and do what they love as a living. Which artist besides Tarantino wants to retire by the age of 60? I want to spread the word about the benefits of studying arts and the arts as a form of living. High schools, Universities, Radio Stations or any form of communication dedicated to youth is welcome to collaborate with us. Because we believe in cultures of youth our mission is to promote cultural exchange, guide vocational search and clarity, encourage education in creative arts, promote a sustainable life and celebrate collaborations in order to live in harmony and in balance.
