Inspiring Conversations with Ethan King

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan King.

Hi Ethan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I first started by seeing some gurus get rich quick scheme on a YouTube ad telling me I could make thousands of dollars a week by basically doing nothing. And like every other 15-year-old kid, I clicked it. And all it really was was a course for four figures trying to sell me the best strategies to learn ecom. and I didn’t have that money! I didn’t even have $100 to my name. But I still wanted to learn, even if this course was fake I couldn’t imagine how much they were making on those course sales. After a few short breaks off and on of motivation, I was still just 15 and had a social life but there was one point in time where I decided to really get going and set up my future now. I was just then turning 16. I learned about classic china to USA dropshipping and tried it out with about $200 in my bank account. No luck and no sales. After that, I was too scared to get back into it because I had no money to lose. But deep down, I always knew I would be in this business. There is a time and a place and it wasn’t now.

Around this time, I found out about someone who is a major role model for me and huge inspiration with me started social media. I came across a biaheza video on YouTube about how to grow on Instagram. And for me at this time, I only saw Instagram as a platform where girls and celebrities would post pictures of themselves for fun. I never knew about the hustle side of the app. After that first video, I was hooked. Binged every single video on his channel and started my first Instagram theme page. I used his videos to learn follow for follow, how to post and how to get the reach of people. And after not even two months, that page was at 10k followers. I knew it wasn’t this easy and I had a skill not many people had. After I started seeing results, I took to a new level. I read so many books and watched every YouTube video there was to know about Instagram and growing on social media. After I made and grew a few more Instagram pages, I started my YouTube channel “Ethan King”. I teach people on how to make money and how to grow on Instagram. I make these videos to try to target people like me who didn’t know anything and bring them into the business to become future millionaires.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all! When I was starting all the money I had to start my business was money I was getting for Christmas, birthdays and stuff I sold. When I really wanted to start dropshipping I sold my tablet, ps4, and games so I could get started with it. I lost all of it. Everything I had and it was a real struggle because it was hard for me to get back into the business being I was scared to lose my money again. I’ve been at YouTube for six months working hours on end to get videos out without making a single penny on my videos. Just now hitting the threshold to make money but so much commitment and effort has to be put in to see any results. As far as Instagram, it took about two months to get a page to 10k and sell my first shoutout and make my first sale on Instagram.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My main focus for my brand is my YouTube channel (Ethan King) and Amazon fba, Instagram, and a little dropshipping here and there. From my audience, I am most known for Instagram and helping people grow as fast as possible. I have a 200k+ follower network on my pages and I make videos and teach people how to grow their pages. What sets me apart from other people is I give people a reason to watch me and follow my path. I am always helping people get started and I’ve given away over 50k followers in Instagram pages to my fans and I don’t see other people doing stuff like this and actually going above and beyond to see their fans successful. Right now, I am the most proud of my YouTube channel just because of how much work goes into it and how much time and effort I spend on it. I’m getting into amazon fba reselling and I think it’s a really good way to make money and I could see it as a full-time income in the future. As far as future plans, I want to start real estate investing when I turn 18 and buy a few rental properties to make some passive income to I can live for free.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was an average kid, having fun, playing outside in a normal middle-class home in Austin, Texas. Around 9 or 10 years old, I got into eBay reselling without even knowing it. Whenever I would want something new like a tablet, iPod, etc… I would go find some stuff I had that I didn’t use anymore and I would have my dad list it on eBay to make a few bucks and use that to buy what I wanted. Around 14 or 15, I started really wanting to learn about business and I started multiple YouTube channels and business with my cousin who is the same age as me, we used to start print on demand clothing brands, sunglasses businesses, and probably around 10 YouTube channels over the course of three years and none of those worked out. We just didn’t have the knowledge or money to invest. I’m still super close with my cousin and plan to really make our dreams come true with a big time business when I can financially afford it.
