Today we’d like to introduce you to DuQuan Brown.

Hi DuQuan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The story of how I got started with this was a natural progression as I was paying attention to the behavior of artists’ followers in the music industry. Wherever I used to tell the fans to go, they would go. We were at the radio station, and we would tell the fans to come; they were there in full effect! When social media came around, it was a continuation of leveraging the influence of artists to increase engagement and establish sponsorships with brands their fans value. I explained to my colleagues the value of monetizing social media and what brand sponsors would pay for it. The rest is history.

I am able to communicate complex things very simply. Many industries like music, advertising, tech, are complex with their jargon. Being able to simplify the goal for projects and bring several skillful people together to work towards a common goal has been a game changer for me and my team. I think that’s what makes me stand out with all of my experiences in these different industries.

After I retired from managing musicians, I dove into the tech world and co-founded Future Media Holdings, a Digital Marketing company. Future Media specializes in utilizing data analytics to ensure immediate and direct results by creating organic distribution through our network of celebrity partners on Facebook.

Our overall goal is to educate artists on how to best present and distribute their work in addition to empowering and bridging the gap between artists, their fans, and high-profile brands. Diving directly into this space provides further opportunity for me to fulfill a deep vision of providing financial literacy in the simplest form by teaching the next generation the value of social influence, engagement, and collaboration.

Being a father, I realized that I wanted to utilize my resources to build a greater impact for generations to come. One way that I have been doing this is with “The Wealthflix X High School Nation Tour. We bring entrepreneurship, music, and art festivals to campuses. I’m grateful for several key relationships that I have been blessed with along this journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenges that I have faced started with growing up in Brooklyn, New York and losing both parents as a child. I was used to being in survival mode. When I began my career in the music industry as a manager, that experience of day-to-day survival mode was mirrored. However, this time, instead of being a target, I was in the role of protector, as the talent I managed was targeted by the media constantly. Over time, I realized that living every day reacting to volatile situations was not a sustainable way of life.

When times get tough, all I can do is have faith. After years of experience, I rely heavily on my instincts to guide me through challenges. Also, overcoming past challenges that appeared impossible in the moment often resulted in a solution that worked out for the best. Hindsight is 20-20! Experience is our greatest teacher. I have made plenty of mistakes, but I’ve also experienced much success, and I am not afraid to fail.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
When I started in the music industry, I dove right in, learning along the way. I continued to dive into other industries, learning as I went. When it comes to my vision, I take action. Results cannot come quickly enough! The advice I wish I received at the start of my career was to practice patience. Also, a very key component was Chase Wimberly; he taught me patience in business.

My business is Future Media Holdings, a digital marketing and distribution company that specializes in utilizing data analytics to create innovative content and distribution strategies through our network of celebrity fan pages on Facebook. We believe in empowering the most influential creators to reach and inspire millions of fans globally. We create the most meaningful and interesting stories for our celebrity clients and brands. We optimize their content to reach millions of people, as well as decision-makers at industry agencies. We finally sell that premium reach to brand advertisers and share advertising dollars with our clients and brand partners. The overall goal is to educate artists on how to best present and distribute their work in addition to empowering and bridging the gap between artists, their fans and high-profile brands.

I am unique because of my experiences. I have over 25 years of experience as a music manager and I have built an extensive network of relationships in the entertainment industry that I have been able to utilize to run successful projects and campaigns. I have paved this way for myself. I didn’t do it alone but my successes wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for my determination to surpass where I’ve come from.

Our work revolves around leveraging influence and maintaining integrity in multiple relationships, one foundation of our success includes our Future Media Social Network of 700 million fans, 150M+ visits generated, 3 billion + video views, 200+ Facebook pages, and 100B+ Ad Impressions. We’ve built an incredible list of clients. Being able to put our business relationships to work to develop the minds and talents of coming generations fulfills one of our company’s deepest visions.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe that risk-taking can lead to great opportunities and growth. It’s important to carefully assess the potential risks and rewards before making a decision. Even if someone doesn’t consider themselves a risk taker, there are still situations where taking calculated risks can be beneficial.
