Today we’d like to introduce you to Elie Ramly, MD
Hi Dr. Ramly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Thank you — it’s a pleasure to share my journey and the story of Ramly Plastic Surgery. I’ve always been inspired by the intersection of surgical precision and artistry, and that ended up defining my career. My early love for music and art taught me to see beauty as harmony and balance — the spaces between notes, the subtleties of light and contour. That same sensitivity informs how I approach plastic surgery. In a field often defined by trends, I wanted to create something quieter, more refined, and timeless. Drawing on my years of plastic surgery training at Harvard and a decade spent refining the art and science of facial surgery, I created Ramly Plastic Surgery as a Beverly Hills concierge practice where aesthetic facial rejuvenation feels deeply personal, refined, and human — a space defined by warm luxury. Every detail, from consultation, to surgery, to recovery is designed with empathy, discretion, and world-class care.
Today, Ramly Plastic Surgery is an exclusive destination for patients from across the country and around the world seeking facelift, neck lift, and natural facial rejuvenation in Beverly Hills. Our patients enjoy a high-end facial rejuvenation experience combined with genuine warmth and attentiveness. My team and I focus on balanced, elegant results that enhance a person’s natural beauty while preserving what makes them unique.
I grew up in a family of physicians — my father is a primary care doctor, and my mother is a pharmacist — so the sanctity of the doctor–patient relationship was something I understood and valued very early on. That environment taught me the value of service, empathy, and scientific rigor, and it continues to shape the way I care for patients every day.
Serving the Beverly Hills community, as well as my patients who travel from across the U.S. and internationally, is an honor. Being fluent in English, French, and Arabic allows me to connect with people from diverse cultural backgrounds with nuance and discretion.
I’ve always been fascinated by the power of facial surgery to transform not just how someone looks, but how they feel. Early in my career, I volunteered on cleft lip and palate missions around the world and saw firsthand how one operation could completely change a life. That experience has stayed with me — reminding me that plastic surgery, at its best, restores not only harmony and confidence, but identity and dignity.
Over the years, I’ve cared for patients facing complex reconstructive challenges — from trauma and burns to cancer and massive weight loss. One experience left a particularly lasting mark. During my surgical training, I cared for a young patient who had suffered devastating facial burns involving the eyelids, ears, nose, and lips. After multiple complex surgeries, even the best that modern medicine had to offer couldn’t fully restore what had been lost. Watching that patient’s quiet resilience through such adversity was profoundly humbling. It also revealed to me the limitations of what was then possible — and inspired my lifelong pursuit of pushing the boundaries to be able to give patients the best care possible.
That pursuit led me to New York, where I completed a face transplant fellowship at NYU, dedicating myself to advancing the science and art of facial transplantation. One day, a patient recovering from a devastating burn injury presented. The similarity of his injury pattern with that of the patient that had initially fueled my interest in the field was striking. We were determined to develop a solution. For over a year, we prepared for every eventuality, designing every aspect of the operation. This culminated in our team achieving a historic milestone: the world’s first successful full face and bilateral hand transplant. Those foundational years, and experiencing plastic surgery’s transformative effect on patients instilled in me a deep sense of purpose — to bring the highest level of precision, compassion, and artistry to every patient I care for.
After completing full plastic and reconstructive surgery training at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, I went on to focus my career exclusively on facial rejuvenation. I developed my personalized approach to facelift and neck lift surgery through years of cross-pollination with the world’s most elite facelift surgeons, with the full spectrum of modern techniques and philosophies. Since establishing my Beverly Hills practice, I’ve had the privilege of caring for patients from across the U.S. and abroad, refining a global perspective on facial aesthetics and individualized care. I view facial rejuvenation as an art of artistic restoration that must be centered around each patient’s unique facial character and identity. My approach prioritizes harmony, balance, and timeless natural beauty with minimal downtime and recovery.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a deeply fulfilling journey— one marked by challenges, lessons, and moments that shaped who I am as a plastic surgeon today. Looking back, each stage felt like a step toward something deeper — from the life-saving intensity of general surgery to the life-changing focus of plastic and reconstructive surgery and facial transplantation, to the most meticulous levels of artistic elegance needed for facial aesthetic surgery — a decade of surgical training demanded everything, but taught me discipline, leadership, clinical judgment, technical excellence, empathy, and humility. Over years and years and thousands of surgeries, the technical aspects evolved to become second nature, and merged with the core that matters most — connecting with people, understanding their vision, and helping them feel whole again through surgery. That’s what continues to make this work so fulfilling every day.
There were many moments that tested my endurance and conviction, but each one strengthened my sense of purpose. I’ve learned that growth often happens off the beaten path — through perseverance, integrity, and a deep commitment to excellence. Today, I feel immense gratitude for the relationships that my work has brought into my life. Being part of my patients’ transformations — inside and out — is a privilege I never take for granted. I absolutely love my surgical craft, the unique brand of facial rejuvenation that I have built in Beverly Hills, and the relationships that I have with my patients and their families. Facial plastic surgery demands precision, judgment, and selfless leadership. It’s an all-consuming craft — but one that rewards you with purpose and meaning every single day. Balancing that professional dedication with personal life has not been easy, but I am so grateful for my supportive life partner, family, and friends for keeping me grounded, and my patients for being a constant source of inspiration. They make it all worthwhile. It’s all a labor of love.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Ramly Plastic Surgery, Beverly Hills?
My work is devoted to facial rejuvenation, with a particular focus on facelift, neck lift, and complex revision surgery. I also perform facial contouring, brow lift, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), and fat grafting, which allow me to refine balance and restore youthful harmony to the face. Every successful journey begins with listening. A thorough consultation and examination allow me to understand each patient’s anatomy, goals, and aspirations. From there, we design a treatment plan — surgical or nonsurgical — that feels right for them and delivers the results they desire.
Every face tells its own story, and my role is to bring it back into harmony while preserving the individuality that makes each person who they are. My background in music and art taught me that beauty lies in nuance — in rhythm, restraint, and balance — lessons I carry into every operation. Whether it’s a facelift, neck lift, or facial contouring procedure, my goal is always to achieve results that feel in tune with the person’s natural character. At Ramly Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, my team and I take a highly personalized approach. We focus on natural results that are refined, authentic, and timeless. Each patient experience is handled with concierge-level care, grounded in warmth, discretion, and meticulous attention to detail from consultation to recovery. What fulfills me most is seeing how thoughtful, subtle refinements can change the way someone experiences themselves — not just in how they look, but in how they move through the world with renewed confidence and ease.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We’re entering an era where authenticity and longevity are the driving forces behind aesthetic care. I see several key shifts:
• Personalization and Identity Preservation: Surgery is becoming less about trends and more about creating results that feel true to the individual. Patients are seeking refinement and enhancement, not reinvention.
• Integration with Longevity Medicine: Advances in regenerative therapies, facial anatomy research, and modern surgical and nonsurgical techniques are changing how we approach aging — more preventative, less reactive.
• Innovation and Measurable Outcomes: As the field matures, we’re finding ways to pair artistry with objective data, improving aesthetic results while maintaining safety and precision.
• Global Collaboration: Around the world, the plastic surgery community is exchanging ideas and techniques more freely than ever before. It’s an exciting time, but with that openness comes an overwhelming amount of information — and sometimes, misinformation. This can lead to unnecessary or poorly chosen procedures, and even preventable complications. I’m passionate about helping patients navigate that landscape and understand their options, to be able to make quality decisions rooted in clarity, confidence, and safety.
At Ramly Plastic Surgery, we’re weaving these principles into every aspect of what we do — blending science, personalized care, and innovation to deliver results that are elegant, natural, and lasting.
