Hi Denny, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey began as a software engineer, where I honed my skills in data structures and algorithms, which would later prove crucial in my entrepreneurial endeavours. After transitioning from academia to the business world, I recognized an opportunity in the beauty industry, particularly in the burgeoning landscape of eCommerce.

In 2008, I launched my first business in beauty product distribution, becoming one of the first to sell on Amazon using Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). This laid the foundation for my understanding of the online marketplace but it has changed soo much since then.

In 2013, as the Amazon competition intensified and margins decreased, I ventured into creating my private label brands, which allowed me to sell my brands through various channels including Sally Beauty, HSN (Home Shopping Network) and Amazon.

The success of this brands propelled me to establish beBOLD in 2018, a full-service agency dedicated to helping professional, premium and retail beauty brands thrive on Amazon and Walmart.

Driven by a commitment to customer service and data-driven strategies, I continuously sought innovative solutions, leading to the development of beBOLD Analytics in 2022.

Today, I lead a talented team focused on global expansion and full-service management, ensuring we provide our clients with the tools they need to succeed in the competitive eCommerce landscape.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a software engineer turned beauty entrepreneur, I encountered numerous challenges on my journey to establishing my brand. Initially, I had to delve into the intricacies of the beauty industry, which was vastly different from the tech world I was accustomed to. Understanding consumer preferences, product formulation, and market trends required extensive research and adaptation.

Additionally, navigating the constantly evolving landscape of eCommerce added another layer of complexity, as I needed to stay updated on the latest technologies and platforms to effectively reach my audience. Each step of this transition was a valuable learning experience that expanded my skills and knowledge base.

One of the most significant challenges I faced was finding success in a highly competitive market saturated with established brands and emerging startups. Rather than shying away from competition, I chose to fully embrace it. I recognized that competition could be a powerful catalyst for innovation and growth. It pushed me and my team to continuously refine our service offerings, enhance our marketing strategies, and deepen our understanding of our target market.

Collaborating with industry experts and listening to customer feedback became integral parts of our approach, allowing us to create products that truly resonated with our audience. This journey has not only transformed my career but has also equipped me with invaluable insights into resilience and the importance of adaptability in the face of challenges.

I take great pride in the fact that over the past three years at beBOLD, we have achieved 100% employee retention and 98% client retention, all while experiencing over 150% growth.

Resiliency is equally important; I’ve faced significant setbacks in business, but I’ve consistently managed to pivot and emerge stronger each time. Both of these traits have been instrumental in my achievements in both business and life.
