Inspiring Conversations with Denise Butler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Butler.

Denise, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My real estate photography journey began in 2007 shooting the listing for my own house after a failed attempt by another photography service. Having done photography as a hobby for many years, I knew I could do better. From then on, I was the go-to photographer for that agent. Over the course of the next several years, I built up enough clients to force me to make real estate photography my full-time focus.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When I was getting started, professional photography was reserved for high-end listings. Convincing agents to invest regardless of the listing price was the biggest obstacle. Luckily it’s a very competitive industry and it didn’t take long for agents to realize that homes with professional photos were selling faster and for a higher price than those without. The subsequent explosion of social media only emphasized the need for good marketing photos.

Over the years technology has progressed to include aerial photography and videos as a standard; just being a photographer was no longer enough. Learning new skills and mastering the software to include videography, obtaining an FAA drone license, and creating content for social media was a huge challenge. There is and will continue to be some new skill, technique, or software to learn.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My specialty is boutique real estate photography, videography and aerial imagery. The emphasis is on attention to detail, incorporating creativity, creating harmonious flow through balancing depth and properly framed images to showcase the home in its best light. All work done is in house to efficiently meet the client’s needs while producing the highest quality work.
