Inspiring Conversations with D’Angelo Jordan of Central Florida Scouting

Today we’d like to introduce you to D’Angelo Jordan.

Hi D’Angelo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ll give you the condensed version due to time constraints. I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. I played five sports throughout high school and excelled as a two-sport athlete collegiately. I’ve always held a different level of affinity for fitness and sports. I began my college degree journey as a criminal justice major. For a time, I wanted to be an FBI Special Agent. Yet, I began to think long-term a month after making my major declaration. I thought of everything I desired to do as a professional, fitness and sports. I decided to major in Fitness and Sports Management. From that point on, I endeavored to pursue and obtain everything I needed to do to be successful in the field.

I started training individuals and groups at the age of seventeen, which parlayed from high school to college. After a successful college playing career, I helped spearhead the training for our 2013 Inaugural Pro Day at my alma mater. I had an opportunity to play professional football with the Oakland Raiders (at the time). The national scout Mickey Marvin offered me a preferred rookie contract twice, but I declined partially due to a position change request. Unbeknownst to them, I harbored a severe ankle injury my entire senior season.

After arthroscopic surgery, I had a CFL tryout in Charlotte, NC and a mini-camp tryout at the IMG Academy. That is where I knew my football career was over. My ankle was not the same due to a multitude of factors, specifically the cartilage repair, wear, and tear. At that point, I made a pivot to pursue my Master of Arts in P-12 Physical Education. Along the journey, I helped unofficially scout and recruit athletes for DNA Sports Management. The newly founded sports agency I signed with many months after I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree. This is where my interest ignited, to learn the business of the sports and entertainment industry.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been pretty much what I expected. I am partnered with DNA Sports Management as an independent contractor. I started my own Legal Liability Company to do business as; Central Florida Scouting, LLC. I have learned a decade’s worth of business practice knowledge within the last fiscal year due to exposure. Which will, in my assessment, lead to expansion.

I hit the ground running consummately. I’ve reached a few hurdles, bumps, potholes, and now detours to get to where I want to be independently. I’m doing all the heavy lifting “on my own”, with no guidance or assistance. In an effort not to divulge too much information. I’ll say that the resistance in this industry is dense with superiority. As well as, the ability to build ethical relationships that are not based on “back scratches.”

When you have the “resources,” the connections will take care of themselves. My road is under construction, being repaved as we speak. I had many plans for this year, yet I had to pivot for the sake of time with my family and growth. I am in the process of building our brand(s) and financial support system required to be successful in this industry.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Central Florida Scouting, LLC is a Premier Sports Agency specializing in scouting to procure Collegiate & Professional Athletes for the Next Level. We engage in sports marketing, brand management, and professional (athlete | talent) representation. We strive to provide a variety of opportunities that contribute to and promote our Seven Dimensions of Success; spiritual, physical, emotional, occupational, intellectual, environmental, and social. We are dedicated to innovating the ideal Sports Agency to become more than Certified Contract Advisors — we are Partners for Life. Our goal is to acquire athletes that attribute world-class qualities and character traits. We aim to continuously create and provide a competitive, safe, and enjoyable atmosphere at CFS. One that encourages civility, teamwork, and leadership development. As well as a lifelong pattern of positive Business Relations.

We are positioning ourselves to be a household name in the sports and entertainment industry by representing high-character individuals, ethical business practices, and glorifying Jesus Christ in all that we pursue. Which is what sets us apart from our competitors. We have a boutique model that serves the best interests of the person with our undivided attention to detail. We are not after fame and fortune; we desire to educate, advise, manage and encourage our athletes in the business of professional sports and entertainment. I am most proud of that; we are already known for high moral principles and honorable communication within the industry.

Partnering with CFS is a lifetime commitment; our reach will exceed our grasp! We currently have two athletes signed with CFS; Pika J. Leota (IG: @king_leota_69 | TW: @king_leota_77), who is currently with an AFL organization, and an NIL partner Xavier E. Velasquez (IG: @showtimeXfactor | TW: @showtimeXfactor) at the collegiate level. We appreciate our current athletes for trusting us with their brands and management!

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’ve had the pleasure of networking and connecting with some big names in his space. I find it best to navigate who has “your” best interest at heart. To become a mentee, you must humble yourself to be teachable and coachable without pride or prejudice. To be a mentor one must be in position to provide education and information unknown to the mentee within the areas of interest.

Everyone who has become successful as an agent is not mentor material, and all aspiring agents are not open to mentorship. The balance is to find the individual or group that is willing to invest their time and resources. To help you become as successful or more than where “they are” now and in the future. That is a very tough find and hard for some to comprehend. What has worked well for me is that I had the pleasure to meet and chat, at random, with industry professionals that share their insights and experiences. All of which has no strings attached, just food for thought.

Lastly, if you’re interested in becoming an aspiring agent, advisor, manager or consultant. It’s best to learn the industry through observation and research. Get out in the field and gain practical experience. With anything great it takes effort, if you want it to be good take your time. With that in mind, I’ll leave you with this, “goodness triumphs over greatness®”.
