Inspiring Conversations with Brita Kleingartner of TRG Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brita Kleingartner

Hi Brita, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been working in Los Angeles real estate for over a decade, and in that time, I’ve helped hundreds of clients buy, sell, and lease homes across this city I love. In 2024, I took on an exciting new role as the Owner and Broker of TRG Real Estate | The Rental Girl—a natural next step in my journey with a company that has meant so much to me.

I first joined TRG in 2016, and from day one, I knew I had found something special. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of growing within the company—first as an agent navigating LA’s competitive market, then as a mentor, strategist, and sales team leader, and now as the person guiding TRG into its next chapter. This company has built an incredible reputation for expert leasing and sales services, and I’m honored to continue that legacy while finding new ways to evolve and grow.

My goal has always been to make real estate feel approachable, strategic, and—dare I say—enjoyable. Whether I’m helping a first-time buyer, advising a landlord on the rental market, or working with a developer on a TIC project, I bring a calm, positive approach and a commitment to getting the best results possible. I truly believe that real estate isn’t just about transactions—it’s about people, homes, and creating opportunities.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Real estate is a tough business—especially in the beginning. There’s no handbook, no clear roadmap, and no one handing you a book of business on day one. You step in with ambition and a license, but figuring out how to turn that into a thriving career is a whole different challenge. The reality is that you’re not just selling homes—you’re building a business from the ground up, and in those early days, it can feel like you’re throwing everything at the wall just to see what sticks.

Starting out, I had to learn quickly that real estate isn’t a typical job—it’s an entrepreneurial pursuit. There’s no salary, no guaranteed paycheck, and no one telling you exactly what to do next. Every decision, every effort, every late-night email and early-morning showing was about creating momentum, often with no immediate reward. The hardest part was knowing that success wouldn’t come overnight, but would be built through persistence, consistency, and sheer grit.

When I found TRG, I realized that passion and perseverance were the key ingredients. I had to be willing to show up every day, even when I had no clients, no leads, and no certainty about where the next deal would come from. I had to carve my own path, learn from trial and error, and tune out the noise of all the different “strategies” and “best practices” that can overwhelm new agents. In real estate, there are endless ways to build a business, but no one tells you which way is right for you—because there is no single right way. You have to figure it out as you go.

The truth is, no one tells you that you’re actually running your own business. You wear all the hats—marketer, negotiator, strategist, problem solver. You build your reputation one client at a time, and trust is earned, not given. There were plenty of moments where I questioned whether I was doing it right, but I kept going because I loved the work. Helping people find a home, guiding them through the biggest financial decision of their lives—it made every challenge worth it.

Looking back, I can see that every struggle shaped the agent—and now the broker—I am today. The ups and downs taught me resilience, the uncertainty taught me adaptability, and the experience taught me that success in real estate isn’t just about market knowledge or sales skills—it’s about showing up, staying committed, and never losing sight of why you started in the first place.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to keep ego out of it and stay humble. Real estate is an industry that will challenge you at every turn—no deal is ever guaranteed, and success isn’t handed to you. You have to show up, put in the work, and be willing to adapt.

I’ve also learned that in this business, you truly get out of it what you put into it. Hard work, consistency, and perseverance always pay off. The most successful agents aren’t necessarily the ones who know the most or have the most connections—it’s the ones who stay dedicated, continue learning, and show up every single day, even when things feel tough.

Lastly, I’ve realized that no one does this alone. Surrounding yourself with the right people—mentors, colleagues, and a strong support system—is key. Success in real estate isn’t just about transactions; it’s about relationships, trust, and always putting the client first.
