Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenna Kapanoske.
Hi Brenna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Justice and after graduating, realized that my initial idea of becoming a probation officer wasn’t the best fit for me personality wise. I got hired to long term substitute teach at a local private high school teaching Psychology. I immediately had clarity on what my next steps should be and began applying to Clinical Psychology masters programs. I continued to teach while going to school, and then eventually graduating and working towards the process of working towards my hours toward MFT licensure. I opened up my solo private practice in 2013. I specialized in working in working with children and teens at the start of my career. In 2018, I expanded my business into a group practice. During COVID, thankfully our business continued to grow and over the years we have expanded with more therapists. Currently, we have a brick and mortar business with 3 associate therapists, 2 licensed therapists and myself. We see a wide range of clients, children, teens, couples and families. I love what I do and am so thankful for the path I get to walk with my clients!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggles have been managing a business while being a mom. As my business has grown, it has been hard to find a balance.
As you know, we’re big fans of Living Deeply Marriage and Family Therapy. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My little. business has grown into something more than I could ever have dreamed of. Part of the mission behind my practice is making therapy accessible and possible for our community and we have a strong tie to community involvement. We provide both in person and virtual services to clients. Our practice focuses on tailoring therapy to each individual client. We work with children, teens, individuals and couples. We also provide free monthly parenting workshops as a community outreach and free support to clients and non clients. We have partnerships with local pediatricians, high schools, elementary schools and OB/Gynecologists, which I am proud of . A unique part of our business is that as we have grown, my husband has taken on the role of Clinical Director. It has been fun to expand and grow our business together. I am proud of our therapists and how we serve our clients. I am very intentional in who I hire and and don’t hire therapists I wouldn’t trust my own family seeing 🙂
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Going on river trips to the river in Arizona for vacation. We would spend all day on the water, boating, tubing and enjoying time together.
