Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Wallace
Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve had a passion for web design and web development since my college days at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. I had my own blog for fun, and a co-worker of mine at the time saw it, liked it, and asked if I could make something similar for his personal trainer-style website he had in mind. Ever since then, I saw my desire to build websites and help others start their own businesses grow tremendously. I eventually graduated, moved to California, started my own business, and the rest is history. I’ve had my ups and downs, and plenty of learning experiences along the way, but at the end of the day, I love what I do. As long as I have my laptop and WiFi, I can work anywhere, and I truly feel like I’ve found my calling.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been as smooth as sandpaper on a sunburn if I’m being honest. As an entrepreneur, you’re likely going to face a lot of adversity: finding clients, handling overhead, dealing with taxes and legal fees, numerous tweaks and updates to websites, etc. I’ve faced it all and more. The key is to power through the best you can. The satisfaction of knowing you got through some difficult moments is well worth it, and it will propel you to continue to move forward with your business in confidence.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Peter Darker – Web Design?
I’m a huge Spider-Man fan, hence the Peter Parker reference in the business name. And yes, “Darker” is a hint to my African-American background. The fact that my favorite superhero is also very familiar with “webs,” kind of completes the humorous correlation. Web design, web shooters, it’s just too perfect.
That’s the brand. As far as the business, it’s all about web design, web development, and social media marketing. I enjoy helping people get their businesses off the ground, and nothing is more effective than an impressive online presence. That’s what I want to help businesses accomplish.
I work with entrepreneurs and business owners all across the country, and my biggest client is SteelerNation.com. I wear many hats for that company, including web designer, and with my family originally being from Pittsburgh, PA, this business relationship shares a special place in my heart. I reside in Los Angeles, CA, but I’m open to working with all kinds of brands, no matter where they’re located.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Google Calendar is a free resource anyone can use to help them organize their week. With numerous clients, deadlines, subscriptions, renewals, etc., it’s been a great place for Peter Darker to stay on track.
Apps like CapCut and Pixelcut have been amazing if you’re in need of video or photo editing as well.
