Today we’d like to introduce you to Bradley Palermo.
Hi Bradley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The current owners of Val Barber (Bradley Palermo & Rafael Bermudez) were working in this space under another barbershop when the owner of that shop up and moved with very late notice in early 2022.
We loved working in the neighborhood, the clients, and the community so much that we were not about to let it go. It was a scramble to start a brand new business in a matter of weeks, but it was a decision that was easy to make.
By March 2022 we were back in the old shop, under a new name, with a new build-out, and this time we were shop owners!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The hair was the easy part, but everything else was new. It took a lot of reaching out to get help with the build-out, the business and tax filings, and the interior design aspects. We are super grateful for everyone that came to our aid in the first few weeks. It all came together, but our heads were spinning.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Val Barber?
We are a friendly and welcoming barbershop in the heart of Valley Village. Our shop is cozy and relaxed, and our barbers are experienced. We strive to be the complete opposite of the hectic corporate shops you see all over town.
We offer cuts, beard trims, and shaves.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in and around Salons. My mother owned a shop where I later worked after going to hair school.
I’ve also always been performative and played in bands. We’ve even had an acoustic live music show at Val Barber one time. That’s something I hope to continue to do a couple of times of the year.
