Today we’d like to introduce you to Benjamin Charchian.
Hi Benjamin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When we were shooting a commercial last year my team asked me the same question and with one take, we got a great video that quickly summarizes my story. This link is below.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A smooth sea, does not make a skilled sailor.
The hardest part of what I do is bearing the responsibility people put on my shoulders. I have clients who are facing losing their homes because they can’t work and pay their mortgage because of their injury. I have clients who are paralyzed and will be thrown in a corner of a nursing home unless I can get them enough money to pay for their care and proper housing. Then I have a sea of lawyers doing everything in their power so the people who put my clients in that position get off scot-free. It is a constant struggle to be faster and smarter and to win. Because if I don’t win, good people hurt.
As you know, we’re big fans of Big Ben Lawyers. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a lawyer that helps people who have been hurt and really need my help get back on their feet. I think a story of one of my recent cases will help show you what makes us different and what makes me proud. This is Ethan’s story:
A few years ago, Ethan’s mom wheeled his 18-year-old body into my office. Ethan’s only crime was that he crossed the street against a “Don’t Walk” sign. The driver of the taxi, who was not paying attention to the road, per his testimony, didn’t see Ethan, didn’t break, and smashed into his tall body. Ethan flew on top of the hood and his head smashed through the windshield.
In my office, Ethan stared at me intently, but he did not understand a single word exchanged between his mother and me. His mom was a saint. She worked 12 hours a day to be able to pay for Ethan’s medical care. She then rushed home each night, fed Ethan, gave the teenager a bath, and fell, exhausted, into bed. She did this day in and day out with no breaks. She was so tired, she had fallen asleep in my conference room while waiting to see my team. Marie needed help. Ethan needed help. And I was honored that they chose my firm to help them.
The defense did everything they could to avoid paying. They sent investigators to the scene and found someone who, they claimed, saw Ethan jump in front of the car. They pressured me to drop the case. But I took that witness’ deposition and it turned out that she had seen a homeless man running into the street hours before Ethan even got there. Good try insurance company.
The case went on like this for two years. But after crushing each frivolous defense they could throw at me, they folded and paid millions to Ethan and his mom.
I originally thought no good can come out of this case, but I was wrong, in the end, Ethan’s mom shined. Her son, who took her for granted, experienced true motherly love. Because of the therapy and care provided by my office, Ethan improved and now has a shot at a bright future. Through it all, Ethan developed an incredible and lasting bond with his mother. As for his mom, she no longer had to work 12-hour shifts to take care of Ethan. She could finally rest knowing that Ethan has enough financial support that he will be taken care of for the rest of his life. This is what I do. And this is why I love what I do.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We are opening a new office every year. My goal is to have an office in every county in California. The larger we are, the more we can help.
