Inspiring Conversations with Ashlee Hamilton of All 3 for Health™

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlee Hamilton.

Hi Ashlee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Ashlee Hamilton and I grew up here in South Central Los Angeles. I am an entrepreneur, real estate investor, and practicing attorney. But most of all, I love helping people feel empowered to look and feel good in their bodies. I grew up seeing my mom jump from extreme diet to diet with short-lived success. Meanwhile, she was extremely stressed out at her job, got hardly any sleep, and never exercised.

Needless to say, she was never able to keep the weight off and ended up with a host of health conditions. I’ve seen my family and friends struggle in the same way, trying all kinds of diets and exercise regimens. Some have even had weight-loss procedures. All of this struggle is not necessary.

Starting with a desire to help my mom, I wanted to empower people to never have to go through this cycle again. I want them to understand that there is a way to build sustainable habits in the three key areas of sleep, movement, and nutrition so that they never have to take extreme measures again.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been paved with challenges. First, there’s a lot of information out there about health and fitness. Sometimes the information contradicts other seemingly reputable information. Other times, it oversimplifies the solution (e.g., “It all comes down to calories in and calories out.”). Second, many wellness professionals promise fast results but tell you nothing about how to hold onto your results. Clients who are used to this message sometimes come to me wanting to lose 50 pounds in 30 days. I don’t run that type of program, so sometimes I have to turn people away or share unwelcome news.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about All 3 for Health™?
Nutrition. Movement. Sleep. Many health enthusiasts emphasize the importance of nutrition, movement, or both. But few talk about the role of sleep in maintaining your physical health. While adequate movement and appropriate nutrition are definitely essential for physical health, these two can only do so much without proper sleep. Sleep is the most underrated component of physical health. Yet, sleep impacts the effectiveness of both nutrition and exercise. To achieve and maintain optimum physical health, you need sustainable habits in all three areas—nutrition, movement, and sleep. All 3 for Health™ equips young professionals with the habits they need in the areas of nutrition, movement, and sleep so they can focus on living their best lives.

What are your plans for the future?
I’d like to change the health and fitness industry by shifting the focus. People tend to focus primarily on either diet/exercise or both. But fitness professionals rarely, if ever, talk about the importance of sleep. When they do, it’s more of an ancillary afterthought. Even beyond that, there’s little discussion about how stress and emotional health impact our physical health. This narrative needs to be changed. It will take a lot of sustained effort, but I’m looking forward to it.
