Inspiring Conversations with Andrew Mollinedo Founder of Next Generation Builders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Mollinedo.

Hi Andrew, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Love this question because there are so many angles the story can go. My story has been quite a roller coaster with a lot of highs and lows. From my childhood to my teens, and now my adult life, I’m sure everyone reading this can agree. I have maintained to be even keel through all of it.

Growing up in a lower-middle-class family, where you constantly hear your parents arguing about their finances and bills always concerned me. It’s what gave me a burning desire to be successful from such a young age. I would tell myself, that I never want to be in that position. Helping my family out and putting them in a better situation was a priority. All I needed was a vehicle to get me to where I wanted to go.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest obstacle was me. Sometimes we tend to blame others, and not take responsibility. Understanding yourself and taking responsibility was a huge key to my success. Why? Because once I understood that I’m in control of the decisions I make and the outcome of them, everything changed for me.

This has helped me in so many ways to get me to where I am. Starting a company is not easy, as there are a lot of obstacles along the way. Even to this day, we get faced with obstacles that would make someone feel very uncomfortable. My word of advice for anyone reading this is, to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

As you know, we’re big fans of Next Generation Builders. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Next Generation Builders is not work for me, it’s a lifestyle. Starting this company during a never before seen pandemic that shut every other business down is when Next Gen opened its doors. Fast forward 2 years later, with over 400+ projects completed, over 40 employees, and an office in Colombia, I feel we are just getting started.

Specializing in ADU’s also known as granny flats, backyard homes, or secondary dwelling units our innovative approach will result in affordable upfront pricing and superior turnarounds, 30% lower than the industry standard. With rent prices increasing and inflation rising, our goal is to help homeowners provide housing to their loved ones as well as help them generate cash flow.

My passion has been creating a great culture within the organization, a winning environment, and customer-centricity. Understanding our customer’s needs and wants is vital for us to guide them in the right direction with their 6 figure project.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
A mentor will support you, cheer you on, provide feedback, advice, and help you define and reach your goals. It can be a key relationship in your life and one that has the potential to impact your choices and career trajectory significantly. Early in my career, my first mentor helped me get to a certain chapter in my life.

I applaud and thank him for the guidance and mentorship to get me to where I wanted to go. Your mentor could be right in front of you, for all you know. My recommendation is don´t take their time for granted. Become a sponge, and absorb everything. Take massive action!
