Inspiring Conversations with Ana Culbertson of Oceana Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Culbertson.

Ana Culbertson

Hi Ana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Oceana Yoga was founded in 2020 as a beach yoga collective to foster togetherness in an unprecedented time of separation.  My passion is working 1:1 with people of all levels and abilities who want to ease the tensions of their mind and body through the ancient practice of yoga.

At 23 years old, I was a touring DJ and music producer in hip-hop and electronic music. My world shattered open after being diagnosed with a rare and deadly cancer. Surviving incredibly harsh treatments of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, I chose yoga as a form of therapy for my battered body, mind and spirit.

After completing a Yoga Training Certification in San Diego, my mission evolved to share this potent practice of transformation with others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The pandemic provided a host of challenges not only with the logistics of the business but on my own mental health. The community that Oceana Yoga provides is more than just a weekly yoga class – it is an opportunity to show up as an authentic expression of my innermost spirit every day.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Oceana Yoga?
Oceana Yoga offers individualized virtual and in person classes to connect students closer to their hearts and their personal life mission.  In addition to yoga classes, I am a breath work facilitator and crystal bowl sound healer.

Students of Oceana Yoga enjoy deep rejuvenation using science-backed modalities which offer relief from physical pain, mending of tissues, increased peripheral blood flow, white and gray brain biomass increases, and more coherent brain/heart/gut connections.

Those visiting Pismo Beach, Avila Beach, Morro Bay or Cayucos are welcome to enjoy a community, private yoga or bridal yoga class through Oceana Yoga.  They can expect a refreshing yoga flow which connects them to their truest self and to Nature.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’d like to honor and send my deep reverence to the original teachers in Yoga Teacher Training at MiraCosta College in San Diego whom saved my life and exploded open my soul: Amanda Kriebel, Doris Lu-Anderson, Stacy McCarthy, and Casey McFarland.
