Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Milton.
Hi Luke, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started as a professional Rugby Player in Sydney Australia where I became obsessed with fitness and wellness in general. When I retired from professional sports, I saw there was a lack of community and “team” in the fitness industry, this inspired me to start Training Mate, a HIIT style workout focused on team, support and fun. I have bought everything I have learned from professional sports and infused it into a workout. I strongly believe a healthy lifestyle happens when we have Physical Health, Social health and mental health. Training Mate addresses all of these equally.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always struggles. Covid-19 has been the biggest challenge to the business so far but has also identified so many new opportunities like online workouts. Being flexible and learning how to pivot is key in any business but especially the fitness industry.

Training Mate is a group fitness company. We specialize in getting results for our members but in a fun and non-intimidating environment. I am so proud of all of the amazing accolades Training Mate had received over the years, most recently being named as the “number 1 studio” in Los Angeles. We are known for our community, our “mates” are motivated, cheered on and inspired by our world-class staff and always made feel a part of the family. Training Mate believes strongly in a Healthy Lifestyle not just a healthy body. So we focus in on social health and mental health just as much as we do physical health. We have a very Australian tone so that gives us an obvious point of difference from others, but mostly it’s our inclusion and focus on community.
