Inspiring Conversations with Jon Crosby of Cobra Crosby Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Crosby.

With over 17 years of professional experience, Jon “Cobra” Crosby is a NASM, NECP and IFA Certified personal trainer and professional athlete. He has been an avid boxer for over 18 years and has trained dozens of up and coming boxers and other athletes as well. Having trained in several different sports including seven different martial arts, Jon has become a well-rounded athlete, which reflects his character and humble upbringing.

His interest in personal training transcended once he saw the positive and life-changing impact that it could have on a person’s life. Early on, he credits Mackie Shilstone, who is responsible for training both Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins, as his influence. Several years ago, Jon launched Cobra Crosby Fitness, which is his own personal training and boxing training company aimed at helping people from all walks of life achieve their goals no matter the obstacles.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In 2013, I almost died from a massive asthma attack that left me in a coma for seven days. On the 3rd day, the doctor didn’t see any signs of recovery and suggested that they pull the plug but my mom and family didn’t let that happen. The doctor tried to wake me up on the 5th day but no luck. On the seventh day of Valentine’s day, I woke up to a room full of smiles. I stayed there for three more days after I passed the test to breathe without the tube that was breathing for me to learn how to walk again. After being released from the hospital, I had to take myself through physical therapy to learn how to walk on my own again and build strength back in my legs because of the 15 lbs I lost in the hospital. I couldn’t work out for six months due to all the medicine they put inside of me.

So after I was cleared, I started my way back to being the cobra. It was a long and tough journey due to the fact that my lungs was scared from the massive attack. After years of hard work, I was able to get back in the ring in 2017 and fight again and win by a 3rd round Ko. Since I dedicated myself to helping, motivating and inspiring people through my gifts and talents and I also started a YouTube channel Jon The Cobra Crosby. The channel is a fitness channel with how to videos for boxing, MMA, abs, jump rope, speed bag and how to hit the heavy bag and all-around fitness tips.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Cobra Crosby Fitness is a boxing training and personal training business. I have 18 years of experience and studied seven different martial arts that allow me to train MMA fighters as well. I’m known for my Boxing Mitt work training I created Cobra training. I’m also known for my circuit training that is a full-body workout that helps my clients train like a boxer. What sets me apart is the fact that I have actually fought in pro fights and still active. Im also set apart because I can do what I asked my clients to do at lightning speed. My brand, the cobra is about taking people to next level in life with a new attitude and new outlook on life and fitness. I help people through fitness and it also helps relieves stress which also helps with mental health.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best is that this is a fitness city what I like least is that parks and different locations try to charge trainers to train in free locations.
