Hidden Gems: Meet Zara Harutyunyan of Cosmetic Rejuvenation Medical Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zara Harutyunyan.

Zara, can you please start by bringing us up to speed on how you got to where you are today, both personally and professionally.
I come from an Armenian background, born and raised in Armenia where I received my doctorate in Gynecology and specialized in infertility prior to moving to the states.

In 2004, my family and I moved to the United States, which is where everything changed for me. My husband and I came to the states with no financial help, with two kids, and dreams that needed to become reality. When I arrived to the US, I got my RN license and my NP license focusing my profession with the aesthetic industry. Although gynecology (which was my background) and aesthetics were complete opposites I knew I was capable of building a great business, but I knew if I were able to build a business around something I became passionate about I would become successful.

I opened the doors to CRMCAESTHETICS (Cosmetic Rejuvenation Medical Center) and didn’t look back. I knew some days would be harder than others. I knew I would face many obstacles as a start-up business, but I believed in myself and I believed in my expertise. Today, 15 years in business, CRMCAESTHETICS has been one of Southern Californians largest Botox providers (for the past 10 years).

Furthermore, I have progressed from not only being an aesthetic provider myself, but also a national worldwide educator/trainer. I believe aesthetic treatments must be used for preventative measures to make and feel everyone their best.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but it also hasn’t been the bumpiest either. We all know starting a company comes with many challenges and you have to overcome those challenges and hopefully not give up half way down the line. (Bringing in my answer to question #2) Some of the challenges I faced coming into a country with my husband and two kids was jumping into the aesthetic field with a background in gynecology from scratch. Thankfully, having the support from my amazing husband I felt that I was not alone in the journey, I felt that I was “home away from home” and I didn’t really feel the stress of raising two kids in a different country jumping into a new profession… and that’s the beginning of my amazing journey!

How do you think about luck?
It truly depends on how one defines “luck.” In my eyes, luck is having the right opportunity at the right time and that is exactly what I had when starting my business – when I jumped into my career. Abraham Lincoln once said, “the harder I work, the luckier I get” and that is truly how I feel walking into work every single day, thankful for each and every patient that comes to see me, and truly lucky that my hard work is paying off.
