Hidden Gems: Meet Wendy Moore of Realtor with Compass

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Moore.

Wendy Moore

Wendy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was drawn to real estate for its endless opportunities. I began as a realtor in the 80s in New Jersey and then spent two decades in the fitness industry. After moving from NJ to Aspen, CO, and then to LA to be near family, I decided the time was right to return to real estate. Real estate is a career that one does not age out of. I am a solo agent with buyers and sellers at all price ranges spanning the city of LA, from the ocean to the Hollywood and beyond. I go where my clients need me.

I am a dedicated marketer employing the classic techniques of door knocking, mailings, hosting open houses and creating events. I am also very active on social media, particularly on Instagram (@movewithwendy), recently hitting over 5000 followers. I started using IG when Covid changed our dynamics for meeting clients and marketing properties. But beyond that, I find IG has helped me be authentic, and it lets people really get to know all aspects of my life…not just real estate.

Here in LA, I enjoy being a member of USC’s Town & Gown organization, where I engage directly with students seeking the scholarships offered by our group. I’m still a dedicated exercise fanatic from my years as a personal trainer and Pilates teacher. I love living near my family, especially my grandchildren, alongside my husband of 45 years and our dog, Mala.

What I love most about what I do is meeting people from all walks of life, helping them with the biggest purchase of their lives, and becoming a meaningful part of that experience with them.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would have to say that after Covid, which was initially a huge obstacle and challenge, the changes in the real estate market have been a constant challenge. I do remember purchasing my first home in NJ with a 16% mortgage, but most of my clients have never experienced that. So, the higher interest rates changed a lot right after the Covid years of super low rates. Things are beginning to level out. Now but there is still trepidation amongst buyers. Couple with the lack of inventory due to my generation owning their homes outright; not wanting to move or not knowing where to go has also proven to be tricky.

Although the challenge with high rates and low inventory is real and still current, I had my best year ever in real estate in 2023. I attribute that to my work ethic and the trust I have been able to build with my clients and sphere. Also, my presence on Instagram has helped tell my story and has led to business for me.

We’ve been impressed with Realtor with Compass, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I work from the Compass Main St, Santa Monica office.
