Today we’d like to introduce you to Walter Cueva
Hi Walter, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My wife always wanted a Tesla, and at the time, we only had a Toyota Prius. In 2021, I decided to purchase a Tesla Model 3, with the plan to rent it out on Turo, a car-sharing app, to cover at least one of the car payments. Little did I know, both cars were always rented out, and we quickly realized the high demand for car rentals in our area. With the support of my father and sister, who helped with the down payment, we decided to expand our fleet in 2022. We ordered three more Teslas: a Model Y, a Model 3 with long range, and a Model X, also with long range.
By the end of the second quarter, I had established new contacts with major companies like Netflix, Firestone, and Sailun Tire. These companies needed Teslas for various purposes – Netflix for a movie set and Firestone and Sailun Tires to showcase their new EV tires. With the support of other Tesla owners who trusted me with their cars, I managed to meet the demand, providing new tires and sharing the rental profits with them.
Thanks to these contracts and the car-sharing model, I expanded my fleet to 12 Teslas, including all models and a brand-new Cybertruck. Friends often leave their cars with me when they are out of town, allowing me to generate income for them by renting out their vehicles. While I do rent out other non-Tesla cars, 95% of my fleet consists of Teslas. This focus on Teslas helps reduce our carbon footprint, which is a crucial part of our mission.
Currently, I am in discussions with Dimo.zone, a web3 blockchain company, to turn Teslys into a decentralized application (DApp). This will create more income opportunities for individuals through the Dimo community. We aim to launch our DApp by the first quarter of 2025, enabling car payments using cryptocurrency and rewarding hosts and guests with Teslys coin for their business. We also plan to apply for an Initial Coin Offering (ICO), marking just the beginning of our exciting journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am grateful that the journey hasn’t always been smooth because it’s during the challenges that I grow and evolve. I’ve faced numerous obstacles, including car accidents, stolen vehicles, and even having to repossess a car in Colorado. There were incidents involving guests using stolen credit cards and Turo accounts, which led to a lot of complications. Additionally, I had to deal with traffic tickets and red-light camera fines, which required court appearances because I wasn’t the one driving.
These challenges have helped me grow and have equipped me to guide and coach others in starting their own car-sharing businesses. Each hurdle has been a learning experience, enabling me to improve my operations and better support others on similar paths.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Teslys?
Teslys.com is a forward-thinking car-sharing and rental company specializing in Tesla vehicles. We started with a single Tesla Model 3 in 2021 and have since grown to a fleet of 12 Teslas, including all models and a brand-new Cybertruck. One of the proudest achievements for our brand is our ability to form strong partnerships and secure significant contracts, which has allowed us to expand rapidly and sustainably. We take pride in our community-driven approach, where we collaborate with other Tesla owners to meet demand and share profits, creating a supportive network of car enthusiasts.
Our goal is to make luxury electric vehicles accessible to everyone while promoting a greener future. We are excited about our ongoing project with Dimo.zone, where we aim to transform Teslys into a decentralized application (DApp) by the first quarter of 2025. This will enable payments via cryptocurrency and reward our hosts and guests with Teslys coin, further enhancing our offerings and services.
At Teslys.com, we are dedicated to providing an exceptional car-sharing experience that aligns with our values of sustainability, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Whether you’re looking to rent a Tesla for a day or a month, or interested in joining our community as a car owner, we are here to offer unparalleled service and support.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One surprising thing that most people might not know about me is that I originally started this journey not as a business venture, but simply to fulfill a personal dream. My wife always wanted a Tesla, and our initial purchase was purely for our own use. It was only after realizing the potential for car sharing that we turned it into a business.
Another surprising aspect is my deep commitment to using technology and innovation to create new opportunities. Beyond car sharing, I’m passionate about integrating blockchain technology and cryptocurrency into our operations. This forward-thinking approach is driving us to develop a decentralized application (DApp) and launch Teslys coin, aiming to revolutionize the car-sharing industry.
In addition to my work with Teslys, I am the CEO of Dino Code LA (dinocodela.com), a software development company, and the CTO of Babycito.co, Northern Virginia’s one-stop shop for family services. I am also a veteran of the United States Navy, having served for four years overseas in Japan. Recently, I started a new construction company named Prime Worth Solution (pwsolutions.org).
Many might not know that I personally handle a lot of the challenges and intricacies of the business, from dealing with stolen cars to fighting traffic tickets in court. This hands-on experience has not only shaped my approach to business but also inspired me to coach and mentor others who are starting their own car-sharing ventures.
