Today we’d like to introduce you to Tristan Winchester
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in the basement (like most do) of my parents place all the way over in the beautiful small town of Yarmouth, Maine.
It was a small Logitech webcam that I would use to create a web show with my cousin Kaylee. We found inspiration from a little show we like to call, “iCarly.”
I realized then just how much I loved being in front of/behind the camera, so I continued that journey. A few years later, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” debuts, and I absolutely fell in love. I was always an avid horror lover, and this show put me over the moon. I was sold.
Fast forward to now, it was these small instances in my childhood that shaped me into who I am today, writing and directing my first horror movie, Mr. Smile.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. In fact, it was only COVID that made me realize what I truly wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I did the whole YouTube vlogger thing, music, and a bunch of other random creative outlets. I grew up in a small town, so people would talk. I’d get made fun of for pursuing something artistic in a school with a bunch of athletes (I was a kick-ass lacrosse player though). I equally enjoy those kinds of projects, but ultimately I had to sit with myself and finally choose a road to go down. It wasn’t easy, but I know I made the right decision based on multiple factors.
I am lucky to have a brother that pushes me to be the best I can be. If it weren’t for Gavin, I don’t think I’d be able to move out to LA to pursue this dream. I believe every great team is a duo. I’m just lucky it’s my brother.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about 2100films?
2100films was created yet again, in my parents basement.
We specialize in horror film production. I’m hoping that one day we are known for creating quality horror feature films that leave a significantly different taste in your mouth than the average box office hit.
I am most proud of the fact that it’s a brother owned and operated company. I am happy with our logo, the vibe we bring out, and the work that we have accomplished so far. It’s not going to be perfect, ever. But I’d like to get close.
My brother and I go by “The Winchester Bros.” We write and direct together, with Mr. Smile being our directorial debut. I urge you to just keep an eye on 2100films as we go into 2025/26.
How do you think about happiness?
Man. A lot of things. I think mainly my family. Family is so important.
Film makes me happy. Horror, Halloween. The things that are abnormal. It brings a real sense of joy to me. Life is so short, and I love to keep it interesting.
God makes me happy. Hiking, adrenaline dumps, my girlfriend, the fun memories — I could go on.
