Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanita Gray.

Tanita Gray

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
NEO Pasadena’s legacy store opened as NEO39 in 2000. For over 20 years, it has maintained a reputation for being the “go-to” shop for premium footwear, accessories, and apparel.

Back in the day, former Los Angeles Laker and Superstar Shaquille O’Neal debuted his line “The Dunk” at a very new NEO39 street-level store.

In 2016, the unique boutique moved downstairs to become Pasadena’s Underground Shoe Store.

To this day, NEO Pasadena has a loyal multi-generational local following and continues to offer a culture of innovation and a desire to seek out the newest, most popular, and upcoming brands.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been challenging in recent years as people are doing more shopping online than at our legendary Colorado Blvd location. We did not think that would ever happen.

This is why we launched our online store neo39.com, and boosted our social media presence. Customers can shop the same premium products that we have in our store with the ease of an online experience.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
NEO39 is a legacy shopping destination located on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena, California. For over 20 years, we strive to be purveyors of creative cultures inspired by various forms of art, design, fashion, music, film, food, and our local community of Old Pasadena.

Our collections feature some of the most sought-after styles from today’s innovative brands, including New Balance, Birkenstock, Saucony, Asics, Honor The Gift, Market, and others. That lineup sets us apart from our neighbors as we are the only shop carrying specific fashion items for a very nostalgic, loyal customer.

We are proud to be the only ones to have unique fashion collaboration collections and hard-to-find pieces in town!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people don’t know that we used to be open until midnight back in the early 2000s! Old Pasadena has a pretty robust nightlife that most don’t know about. We are thinking of opening until Midnight during the Rose Bowl.
