Hi Tai, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Many people may know me from my time in front of the camera or even years before when I was a magazine editor. Over the last 20+ years, I’ve spent my life (professional and personal) connecting with women, facilitating meaningful conversations, investing in young women as a mentor and investor, advancing messages about living full, empowered lifestyles. As an entrepreneur, I run my media company Tai Life Media as well as Brown Girl Jane, a plant-based wellness brand centering the needs of women of color that I co-founded with my Spelman College Sisters. In an effort to support women as they elevate and grow daily, I created a daily IG Live experience called Morning Mindset with Tai. Morning Mindset is about being fed and fueled. Morning Mindset with Tai is a centering space and invitation for individuals to convene online and in-person through mindful practices including communal devotional reading and discussions, meditation, movement, environmental awareness, and prayer. I continue to produce and host TV, consult with brands and also serve as a keynote speaker for corporations and universities.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve been an entrepreneur for the last 16 years. Struggles, I’ve had many.
Rebounds, I’ve had some.
Optimism has never left.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Tai Life Media LLC & Brown Girl Jane?
The MMWT tribe community took shape organically after I began sharing some of my daily early morning practices. It quickly grew from 30 daily viewers to well over 130 daily viewers. It is my hope that everyone who experiences MMWT feels equipped and energized to be impactful that day. We’re anchored in the philosophy that how you begin (the day) is half the win.
As a speaker, I’ve diversely worked around inspiration and purpose even in the commerce space.
I experience the greatest joy during any chance to directly touch and interact with people.
As the co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of Brown Girl Jane, a fast-growing, leading, plant-based wellness and beauty company, I’ve been able to further expand my entrepreneurial footprint. We’ve identified a gap in the nearly $1B CBD global market to provide natural wellness solutions to BIPOC consumers while expanding conversations and access to anti-stress solutions for women.
