Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey J
Stacey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Where I am today was definitely built off many small steps, with a few larger leaps and bounds in between. I always knew that I wanted to be something creative, although creativity wasn’t one set industry or position in my mind. I was that girl that wanted to be the flight attendant, lawyer and fashion designer all in one. Which made me go in between a lot of industries (Advertising, Marketing, Interior Design and Hospitality). Holding various positions, but never that one that truly hit the mark, or showed who I truly was. The need to do something uniquely me with variety, was constantly flowing like energy and water throughout my veins/life. Maybe it’s the Aquarius in me lol! So I made the choice to use all I had done, learned and experienced, to be my guide to my next level in business and my life!
This searching for things, spaces and places that made me feel seen/heard, fulfilled, and healthier turned into a super passion. Being born and mostly raised in L.A., I saw so many in elevated spaces filled with women and men, that didn’t necessarily look like or think the way I did. Nor had they been through things or seen them, the way that I had. I wanted to change that narrative, so I created my own multi lane highway the last couple of years. My own version of what I knew was lacking in the Travel, Wellness, and Interior Design communities. Where someone didn’t have to simply choose one day or way to take a vacation, take their well being serious, or even upgrade their homes.
After all transforming ones life is intentionally done, with the key word being “intent”. Which means to do it with an objective, calculation, plan and purpose. Translation is that this would become a Lifestyle, and I would show others how to get the best out of theirs. So that’s how Tranquillite Ikandi was born, out of a perfect mix of creativity, trial/error, hard work and the need for diversity!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Hmm lets say some roads were “smoothish”. Some paths led to more than a few difficult lanes, while others were surprisingly smoother than I expected. Honestly it still has it’s challenges today and can be bumpy at times. As they say that’s life and what happens when you out grow things, yet are growing into others. I know certain moments could have went so left or left me for worse. But I believe in a higher power and listen to my gut instinct. Those highly important things have lead me right in one way or the other. The build of my brand has been slower than I’ve wanted at certain points too. But you live and learn! I’d prefer slow and steady over fast to fall or fail. Being an L.A. native, has helped me a lot. By gaining firsthand knowledge from those in my family, my city, friends and colleagues too, as a personal playbook. Add traveling the world to the mix, I’ve found the recipe and ways to stay in this business marathon. #mambamentality.
You must remember, there will be those times where you get in your own head and way. Leaving you overly questioning and analyzing everything, which is totally normal. There can be moments of doubt or hesitation because of that . Then of course the biggest hurdle is usually financial. You’re either trying to find ways to invest on your own, or get investors for your business. Staying creative, having a strong team, while keeping a business going can be really challenging! The pandemic taught us that more than anything that it still can be done, even in really hard times! You have to just keep going, putting yourself out there to connect with the right clients and networks. It means constantly stepping out of your comfort zone. Finding diverse ways to stand out from the noise and crowd is super essential. But if you can stay grounded and keep at it throughout it all, eventually you’ll reap the rewards I’m learning! I’ve realized you’re always going to struggle before you succeed and struggle with success. It just all depends on your definition of a struggle or success and most importantly your ATTITUDE!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Tranquillite Ikandi?
It’s a small boutique lifestyle agency in L.A. led by myself. I look at the company as a small tree that’s been recently planted. It has many branches and is still growing. Part of and the bulk of the business is to curate vacations whether that is wellness, personal, or business based for clients.. We also use those points and places, as inspiration when it comes to interior design of a home or office. Lastly, we help those looking to incorporate good health and well being tactics into their lives. Not just products, but more of the implementation of routines/locations that build a better lifestyle for you, as a whole!
I am glad that I’ve been able to have traveled extensively, so that I have a better idea of how to make my clients happy. I’ve also been apart of some amazing design projects all over the world, that has helped to elevate my game. My network is expanding and those that support me is too. Which I’m grateful for, but of course I’d like to scale up! As a very diverse Black woman, I can speak to the needs/wants of a lot of people and I enjoy doing that. Yet for those from my own community which is equally diverse, it’s extra special when I can do that. I hope to work with more people of color from all over the world, in the future!
I don’t list prices, as everyone has a budget or amount they can and want to spend, when it comes to things they’re interested in. Clients however do like to live and travel in the finer way and we help them achieve it. My goal is to give you individual curated and customized service, but always at the best and most fair prices…We’re open to collaborations with those individuals, with a passion for all things Lifestyle/Wellness and Travel based!
How do you define success?
Success is when you’ve got a good mind, body and soul and you’re doing what you love. You’re able to share that with the people that mean the most too you. It also means building something that you’re proud of and that will leave a lasting impression on the world, for the better! True success has to do with finding your hidden talents, and sharpening your known ones.
Making good money for financial freedom is not wrong and definitely the goal. Just remember to take care of yourself along the way, because good health is truly wealth!
