Hidden Gems: Meet Shabby Khalili of Ask Me Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shabby Khalili.

Hi Shabby, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in the city of angels, my life is a plethora of many consistent themes; traveling to beautiful places, devouring all the food (of course saving room for dessert), rooting for the LA Dodgers and most importantly- capturing it all. I love trying new restaurants, whipping up different recipes, decorating my home and sharing everything in between with my followers in the hopes of inspiring them to live their best life. As a kid, I always imagined myself as a news broadcaster or TV host. With the power of social media, I have been lucky to create my own platform sharing the things I love with my little but mighty community.

They say, “love what you do, never work a day in your life.” I’ve never been the nine-to-five, sit behind an office desk, kind of gal. As a free-flowing creative, I thrive on the freedom to travel to different places and meet new people while connecting all the dots. I started my career as a content curator in the music + broadcast industry but took a break to finish earning my degree in Business Marketing at CSUN. Little did I know, I would not go back to the music industry and my food blog, which initially stemmed from a hobby of eating and taking pictures, opened many doors. That journey lead me to working in the field I am most passionate about today – food & travel.

During my free time, I continue to shamelessly share my day to day life and inspire my internet besties to visit a new restaurant, attempt a food/cocktail recipe or try a DIY project I may or may not have successfully mastered.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life is never short of obstacles and challenges. Call me crazy, but I appreciate every single one that life has thrown at me, let me tell you why. I heard this quote once and it stuck. “Things don’t happen to you, they happen for you.” Once you change your perspective that life happens for you, less things will bother you. It definitely sounds easier said than done, but the more I remind myself that whatever is happening is part of a bigger plan, the more I embrace the challenge I am facing.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ask Me Media?
After some time curating content in the food industry, things started to really take off. I began to notice that businesses needed help gaining exposure over social media, so my best friend of 20+ years and I decided to start our own marketing firm. Our company, Ask Me Media, focuses on content curation and connecting businesses with local creators. This allows them to stay relevant in the rapidly evolving digital world. Since launching in 2019, we have expanded from the food industry into cannabis, health, beauty and much more. The future is looking bright as we are expanding into different industries across the US.

What makes you happy?
To me, happiness comes in many forms such as watching my favorite team win the World Series or simply having sushi for dinner. These are some things that make me my happiest self. Nonetheless, I always try to remind myself that happiness is a state of mind, and it always starts with you. Being happy with yourself is above all materialistic things. However, as a content curator, seeing my followers try a new recipe I shared or visit a restaurant I recommended always puts a smile on my face. This ensures me that my content is relatable and inspiring. It’s a bonus when my audience tells me they actually enjoyed that dish or restaurant or design idea. This continues to motivate and inspire me to share my everyday life of things that make me happy, and ultimately, my goal is that these moments will bring happiness into other’s lives.
