Hidden Gems: Meet Sarah Parsons of Sarah Parsons Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Parsons.

Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, my dream was to be an actor. The stories I saw on screen inspired me; whether they were fictional or based on a true story, I found so many characters in film that were touch points for me. I began acting when I was 12, was accepted into my first college theatre program at the age of 15, and transferred to Southern California’s CALARTS at the age of 19.

Around my mid-twenties, I began feeling dissatisfied with what I was contributing to the world and limited in my ability to create and share stories that mattered. It was around this time I began trying on different careers for size — yoga teacher, business manager, graphic designer to name a few. Eventually, I found myself as an executive of a LA-based start-up and then Public Relations Firm.

It was during these years pursuing and trying different paths that I was introduced to the incredible power of sharing personal and businesses’ stories and I understood first-hand the power of personalized, well-crafted PR in magnifying those stories.

Shortly after I founded my own PR and Media Firm, Sarah Parsons Media, to help champion the stories of artists, entrepreneurs, and those looking to make their corner of the world a more beautiful place.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I say that with a lot of gratitude. While I would never actively wish for obstacles in my own path or the paths of others, I can say without a doubt that every obstacle I’ve encountered has pushed me to grow beyond the limits I placed on myself.

It’s hard to zero in on a specific obstacle, however, an overall challenge that has been a theme in my life and certainly for many creatives and entrepreneurs I’ve worked with is finding a crew of good, solid, honest human beings that have your back.

In my experience, if you have more than a handful of folks that can truly celebrate your successes and also be there when you need the tough love, then you’re blessed. I’ve found a few, and I can say without hesitation I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

We’ve been impressed with Sarah Parsons Media, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
