Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was raised in Glendora, California, by my single dad, who instilled in me the values of hard work and resilience. I went on to earn my undergraduate degree from the University of La Verne and later completed my master’s at Azusa Pacific University. I gained valuable experience working for large corporations like Target and Macy’s. I also worked for a couple companies doing marketing. While I worked at Macy’s I opened my own wedding company and used all the revenue to pay off my student loans.
While I was pregnant with twins, I realized the importance of having a flexible schedule to balance my family life. This led me to explore franchise opportunities, I opened my first franchise of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK in Upland with just one truck. Since then, I’ve expanded my business to four franchises and 16 trucks.
Being a woman in a male-dominated industry has presented its challenges, but I believe that my journey can inspire others to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. I am proud to be a business owner and to contribute to my community through my work.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Throughout my journey, I’ve faced numerous obstacles and challenges that have shaped my path. One of the significant hurdles was managing a substantial amount of student loans. Paying them off required a lot of hard work and dedication, but I stayed committed to my goal, and it was incredibly rewarding to achieve that milestone.
As a woman in a male-dominated industry, I’ve encountered my share of challenges, particularly in gaining recognition and respect in a field where women are often underrepresented. Building my company has not only been about growing a business but also about proving that women can succeed in any industry.
Balancing family life with my entrepreneurial ambitions has also been a challenge. There were many times when I had to get creative with my schedule. I remember having manager meetings in our parking lot while my kids napped in the car next to me. I often worked after they went to bed, sometimes until 2 a.m., to ensure I could keep up with my responsibilities at work while being present for my family.
These experiences have taught me resilience and time management, and they have reinforced my commitment to creating a successful business while prioritizing my family.
