Today we’d like to introduce you to Rolando Marin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been geeking out on the web since the days of dial-up—that screechy modem sound was basically my theme song. Even back then, I knew I’d end up spending a big part of my life on the internet.
I started creating web pages for fun in the ’90s, experimenting, breaking things, fixing them again—the usual rite of passage for anyone who fell in love with the early internet. In 2005, I built my first real business website for a company I started called XDOMES, which sold camping tents. That experience made me realize I enjoyed building the website way more than selling the tents.
By 2008, I teamed up with a friend to create LA FREE BEE, a site that offered free stuff to locals while generating ad revenue—kind of an early version of today’s deal sites, but with more personality (and fewer pop-ups). That same year, I officially launched My Company Site.
By 2010, I was building websites for small businesses and found a niche in the construction industry. From there, things took off fast. I built a small but talented team of web designers, developers, graphic artists, and content creators who shared my vision of helping businesses stand out online.
In the years that followed, My Company Site expanded its reach to a wide range of industries prominent in the Los Angeles area—from entertainment and event planning to legal, engineering, manufacturing, and distribution. To date, we’ve built over 500 websites and currently manage around 100 active clients, backed by more than 80 five-star reviews from happy customers.
What I love most is seeing how our work impacts our clients—helping businesses grow, rebrands come to life, and new ideas take shape. Pasadena and Los Angeles are full of creative energy, and being part of these vibrant communities keeps us inspired. The web keeps evolving, and so do we—ready for whatever comes next.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I can’t complain. The road has been mostly smooth with a few challenges that we’ve handled constructively. While everyone seems to be afraid of A.I., we welcome it, as it offers an array of tools to work with, not only for us as creators but also for our clients.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My Company Site is a local business. We are not overseas, and we will make an effort to try to meet you in person if that is what you need. We focus on creating web solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses. We work with all industries, from complex architectural and engineering firms to a local plumber or restaurant. I’m not saying that we’re the best or that we can create the next Amazon, but we will definitely make you level up. Whether it’s a website revamp, an e-commerce site, an online portfolio, or a marketplace with all the bells and whistles like dynamic pricing, upsells, etc., we’ve got you covered.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Wow. My story of how I grew up is far more interesting than Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans. My personality back then was far different than what it is now. I “grew up” much later in life, having gone through many hard times but finding a way to better myself by making smart choices. I thank select family and friends who not only contributed to my sense of being, but helped shape me into the person I am today. I am a person with diverse interests, from loving mainstream things to the most remote indie musician you probably never heard of. From cheering on my LA Rams to crying at the Hollywood Bowl to Puccini’s opera. I also teach spin class for fun.
