Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Tsoy.
Olga, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Olga Tsoy is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and the co-founder of Mentology Mental Health Group, based in Los Angeles, California. Originally from Uzbekistan, she immigrated to the United States in 2005, bringing with her a rich cultural perspective from the former Soviet Union. Upon settling in Los Angeles, she pursued her academic journey at California State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). She later completed her Master’s in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at Walden University, further developing her expertise in the field.
Olga’s approach to mental health care is comprehensive and holistic, focusing on identifying and addressing the root causes of psychiatric conditions rather than simply managing symptoms. She believes that sustainable recovery is achieved by understanding and treating these underlying factors, which leads to more meaningful and lasting therapeutic outcomes.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The path to this point has been anything but smooth—but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve faced cultural barriers, financial hardships, and the constant pressure to prove myself in a system where my background often made me feel like an outsider. But adversity, I’ve learned, has a remarkable way of refining your purpose.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mentology Mental Health Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Mentology was born from a desire to change how we approach mental health. We’re based in Los Angeles, but our outlook is global, deeply integrative, and always patient-centered. At Mentology, we believe in treating the root causes of psychiatric conditions—not just putting a Band-Aid on symptoms.
Our philosophy is rooted in functional and integrative psychiatry. That means we look at the whole person: biology, lifestyle, nutrition, trauma history, even environmental factors. Mental health is rarely just “in your head.” It’s in your gut, your hormones, your experiences. We collaborate with patients to unravel those layers and rebuild their mental wellness from the ground up.
We also embrace innovative approaches—from cutting-edge diagnostics to personalized medication management and alternative therapies. We’re constantly learning and evolving because the human mind is not static, and neither should treatment be.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned through both life and work is this: even good things are temporary. That may sound bittersweet, but it’s also freeing. Nothing is permanent, which means pain passes—and joy must be cherished. I try to find meaning in everything, whether it happens or doesn’t. Even delays or disappointments can carry quiet blessings if you’re willing to look for them.
