Olga, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my journey as a researcher in molecular biology, fascinated by the intricacies of life at the cellular level. As I delved deeper into the scientific world, I realized that my true passion lay at the intersection of scientific research, technology, and the social impacts they create in unique ecosystems.
I set out to explore this passion by diving into the world of tech startups and operations. With each new opportunity, I gained valuable experience in administration, team building, and communications, eventually acquiring more than a decade’s worth of expertise.
As a longtime member of Caltech’s community and a participant in several boards, I felt the urge to make an impact outside of academia. This desire to build from the ground up, paired with the deep intellect and innovative nature of my incredible co-founders, led me to co-found Lucinetic. As CEO, I’ve been able to shape an organization and team I’m proud of.
I firmly believe that a diverse and healthy team, paired with a remarkable mission, is unstoppable. Technology, in my eyes, is a tool that people should partner with, empowering themselves to excel in the work they love. Today, I’m proud to say that this belief drives Lucinetic and continues to inspire me every day.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I believe the challenges have made me stronger and more resilient. Being a mom and a woman in tech comes with its own unique set of advantages and challenges. As a mother, I’ve developed a strong sense of empathy and adaptability, which helps me connect with my team and understand their needs better. Being a woman in a male-dominated industry has taught me the importance of bringing diverse perspectives to the table, as it allows me to approach problems differently and cultivate an innovative and grounded mindset.
That said, it hasn’t always been easy. Starting a company and raising money, building a team, and creating a product during a global pandemic, war, and the financial downturn has been quite challenging. These external factors have put immense pressure on our resources and tested our resilience as a team.
However, I am proud of how we’ve persevered through these obstacles. The struggles have taught me valuable lessons about adaptability, resilience, and the importance of a supportive and incredible team. I believe these experiences have shaped our organization into a more robust and grounded entity, which will continue to serve us well as we navigate the road ahead.

Luck has played an interesting role in both my life and business, taking the form of both challenges and opportunities. As an immigrant child, I was exposed to unique experiences that shaped my perspective, and I consider myself incredibly privileged and lucky for that. The challenges I faced during my upbringing, coupled with the countless opportunities I encountered, have molded me into the person I am today.
I believe that life is a mix of ups and downs, and it’s essential to recognize the gifts we receive along the way. Gratitude has been a driving force in my life, allowing me to appreciate the good times and learn valuable lessons from the difficult ones. This outlook has helped me maintain a positive attitude and stay resilient in the face of adversity.
