Hidden Gems: Meet Nick Tillia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Tillia.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I taught special education for severely aggressive and disruptive students for ten years in Phoenix, AZ. In 2015, I left teaching to begin my own life coaching business. I combined my background in athletics, my experience with education and behavioral change, and my own spiritual awakening and practices (initiated by a really tough divorce that I went through in my late 20’s) to support others who wanted to perform better, live happier and more fulfilled lives, and to create the type of life that they loved living in.

It took a couple of years of difficult years to get the business to a point where it was successful and thriving – especially with two young boys at home. By late 2017, the business and brand were booming. In March of 2018, we moved our family from Phoenix to Marina del Rey because we sought a reprieve from the desert heat and wanted to be near the ocean in a community that was more progressive and that celebrated ambition along with mental and physical health.

Business has continued to thrive and flourish as well as our lives being here in LA. I work virtually with athletes, other coaches, and leaders from all over the world; my wife (Courtney Tillia) is also an accomplished and renowned coach, published model, and one of OnlyFans’ top creators – we often coach and create programs together for individuals and couples who want to live more purposeful and expressive lives. Our boys (ages 9 and 8) love their peer and school communities on the West Side. And my 18 years old daughter is an aspiring tattoo artist who loves the culture and vibes here in LA.

We’re currently re-launching a self-published reality show about our lives – Kickin’ It With The Tillias (A YouTube Series).

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The first year of my business (2015), I thought it would be a good idea to launch an online business while being a stay-at-home dad for two very rambunctious little boys. There were lots of frustrating moments for all of us, but I showed up for my business and early clients relentlessly. My wife quit teaching a year after I did to start her own online business – first as a fitness coach for women and then evolving into an exceptional life Coach in her own right. Having her at home as well helped with a lot of the stress and we found ways to make our schedules and lives work together. Until the businesses were solvent on their own, we found creative ways to make ends meet. I drove for Uber in the evenings and did personal training, we flipped items on Offer Up, my wife substituted as a teacher occasionally even sold private photos and videos years before OnlyFans was a thing.

In 2017, I hired my own life coach (Stephen Lovegrove – who was already living here in LA) to help me dissolve some internal resistances that I had to success. As I shifted my own associations between love and sacrificing myself for my family to success and prosperity being a more complete expression of love, my business and client roster expanded rapidly.

It’s continued to grow in reach, impact, and profit ever since.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a life coach for athletes, public figures, and leaders. Often referred to as The GameChanger or Unfair Advantage, I work with clients virtually to support them in creating greater success and fulfillment by laying solid inner foundations, shifting old, unhelpful perceptions, and employing a new, empowering identity and associating behaviors.

I’m well-known for my unapologetic, bold authenticity and in-your-face-with-the-truth style of coaching.

My clients live better, perform better, feel better about their lives, and create a personal version of success that they love living in.

Growing up around a lot of professional athletes, I saw how many simply couldn’t get out of their own way to live up to their potential and/or were unhappy in the success that they created. My business and coaching serves as an answer to those problems.

I work 1:1 with clients and their teams; I have a Mastermind that I facilitate, and I have digital educations programs.

Courtney and I also have an online membership (The (re)Membership) community that supports and empowers other coaches and leaders from all over the world in bringing their unique gifts and talents forward.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Courtney Tillia (my wife) deserves a tremendous amount of credit for supporting every vision and idea I’ve had over the years. It was absolutely ridiculous for me to quit teaching with zero savings and nothing to really fall back on – but she’s trusted me and supported me in step along the way. Even when things really didn’t appear to be working, she held the faith and certainty that it was all working out. Even when our house flooded and we were homeless in August 2016, she believed in me and the vision we had.

Stephen Lovegrove (America’s Life Coach) I hired in 2017 and is still my coach today. He supported me with stepping into a level of visibility and success that I was struggling to do on my own and has continued to support me in every new season and level of my life.

My clients all around the world who trust me with their most intimate thoughts and issues and who relentlessly do the work that I suggest in order to create what they want. I’m grateful and inspired daily and love watching the impact that they have in the world.
