Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Morales.
Hi Molly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved hosting and planning events as well as dreamed about having my own business. For years friends and family told me I should start an event business but I had my career and just wanted to do events for fun. Going back even further, I would describe my family as a popcorn family. We all loved popcorn. Growing up, I remember my mom driving up to the movie theatre and running in just to buy popcorn. She always said the best dinner was a tub of popcorn and a soda. As soon as I bought my first house, I bought a popcorn machine where we could pop fresh popcorn for every party or get-together. Toward the end of the pandemic, I had the opportunity to buy the assets of a local popcorn business. I was acutely aware that the event business was going to boom post-pandemic and I decided this could be my dream come true. I met with the owners multiple times and learned all I could about making gourmet popcorn and events that I could sell it at. I went for it! I bought their equipment and some recipes. That was the start. I knew I wanted to develop a brand that was my own style, favorite color (pink) and somehow combine this new passion for developing unique popcorn flavors and events!
In the first 18 months of the business, I was fortunate to have my popcorn at private events like weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, quinces, baby and bridal showers, birthday parties and tons of school events. I developed fundraising opportunities for schools and sports teams and began selling it at local Rec sports facilities and food truck events. I also was incredibly fortunate to be invited to participate in small and large boutiques which really helped promote the brand and develop a following of popcorn-loving customers. I was also given the opportunity to sell at some of the most amazing huge festivals like Boots and Brews, Tacos and Tequila and Home and Garden shows. It has been an absolute whirlwind and it makes me incredibly proud to be called the popcorn girl!!! I love hearing what people’s favorite flavors are and seeing their faces when they try my unique recipes. I am incredibly lucky to have so many lovers of my popcorn, whether it’s a sweet, savory or seasonal flavor.
Some of the favorites are:
Hot Wing and. Blue Cheese
Dill Pickle
Chili Lime
Bourbon Pecan
Animal Cookie
Apple Pie
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been fairly smooth other than the costs of goods rising dramatically over the past year, supply shortages and sometimes battling high temperatures at events!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Let’s Get This Party Poppin?
