Today we’d like to introduce you to Mogli Maureal
Hi Mogli, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Born in Cebu, Philippines, I was exposed to diverse cultures from an early age. At just six years old, my family’s nomadic lifestyle took us from Cebu to Seoul and eventually to San Jose, California. Moving every 3–4 years became the norm, evolving in a deep passion for travel and exploration. This ever-changing environment shaped my creative journey and continues to influence my approach to photography and filmmaking.
My love for visual storytelling began during a solo trip to Peru in 2013. Upon arriving at my homestay, I captured a simple photo of the view using an old iPhone 4. To my surprise, that photo went on to win a contest, allowing me to purchase my first real camera—a moment that changed the course of my life. From that day on, I haven’t stopped shooting.
Every encounter with a stranger, every landscape, every melody, and every culture has profoundly shaped who I am today. The untold stories, lessons, and experiences I’ve gathered along the way fuel my creative process. Whether I’m working on photojournalism projects or crafting imaginative visual concepts, I embrace the challenge of bringing my ideas to life through art.
In the early days, I was obsessed with mastering the ins and outs of DSLR cameras. Through determination and self-training, I immersed myself in the craft, connecting with like-minded creatives, taking on random gigs, experimenting, failing, and learning from every experience.
After years of working as a professional creative across various genres, I’ve focused my expertise on building my own creative agency. Our mission is to help hotels, resorts, and brands drive direct bookings and increase sales through our tailored Social Booster Program.
When I’m not behind the camera, I’m behind a drum set, channeling my passion for music. But my camera remains my most vital tool allowing me to communicate and connect without words, telling stories that inspire and resonate.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a freelancer and the CEO of your own small business is, without a doubt, a bumpy road most of the time. Along my journey, I’ve faced countless challenges, from navigating client communications to dealing with a lack of the right equipment for a project. Each challenge is unique, making it essential to stay fully attentive and engaged with your business at all times.
On top of that, I’ve realized that burnout can creep up unexpectedly and hit you hard. Fortunately, I’ve made strides in improving my work-life balance, and I’m grateful for that progress! =)
