Today we’d like to introduce you to Mindy Kinne.
Hi Mindy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During college, I was a server for 14 years. I love hospitality. I enjoyed working in a restaurant so much that I want to open my own restaurant one day. After I graduated, I worked as a food scientist for nine years. Then, I decided to open a brunch neighborhood cafe, Met Her At A Bar with my Husband in 2017. We named the cafe Met Her At A Bar because we met at a bar in Hollywood. We were really blessed with the overwhelming response from the neighborhood and everyone that came to visit us from all over the town. We then opened a homemade pasta restaurant called Met Him At A Bar in 2019. Vinny is half-Italian. We use family recipes for our Italian restaurant. Then 2023, we opened Her Thai. I used to help my mom sell Thai street food in Bangkok, Thailand. I would like to share good Thai food with the neighborhood. We are also building Met Her At A Bar on Main St Santa Monica.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a new restaurant business is a challenge. There are lots of details. We just adjust and improve things each day to get to perfection.

Met her at a bar is a neighborhood cafe. We serve brunch items with a Thai twist. We specialize in waffles. Our Tom Yum fried chicken and waffles and Wake Up Happy (American breakfast with waffles) are the top sellers. We have 15 different waffles on the menu. Met him at a bar specializing in homemade pasta. We make fresh pasta in the morning every day. We also used Vinny’s family’s recipes. Her Thai offers Thai street food Togo style using my mom’s recipes.
