Hidden Gems: Meet Mic Evans of Dreamfree

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mic Evans.

Hi Mic, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up in Philadelphia navigating the inner city definitely was a lesson. There’s turning point in one’s life that propels them to take action. My childhood friend and high school football teammate Alvin Dill was murdered at the age of 17 years old. I realized that your life is determined off the decision you make.

I decided to attend Lackawanna college in Scranton, PA, where I played college football. During my tenure, we recorded a record of 18-2 and one undefeated seasons becoming the Valley of the sun bowl champions. Which earned me a scholarship to Jackson State University where I continued my collegiate football career.

I had a great experience attending Jackson State as an athlete its history made it magical. I studied entrepreneurship and small business finance. Meeting many people who were instrumental in my life and development.

After I relocated to Los Angeles, CA Starting from humble beginnings. I moved in with a friend named Matt Horn (Chef/Pitmaster) I knew from Valley Forge Military Academy attended for a short while.

The music industry is what I wanted to pursue, landing an opportunity to work with four time Grammy award-winning mixing engineer Neal Pouge. He’s been a great mentor, helping me understand the business and sharping my skills.

I would later use those skills to work with a non-profit by the name of CreateNow creating a program teaching music production skills to transitional foster youth funded by Audiomachine. A highlight of the experience was taking our class to have a private tour of paramount recording studio.

Which lead to the vision for Dreamfree, Sharing my life experiences with others to motivate them, being an athlete I understanding winning is an attitude. You have to shift your mindset first than the action will become easier. Bring awareness to the mental, physical and spiritual balance needed to achieve your goals.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There has been many struggles, too many to list it’s the life of an entrepreneur, I say trust the process. The first job I had in Los Angeles was valeting cars from there to working at a fortune 500 tech company and now operating my own company. It’s a journey to respect yourself and don’t pay too much attention to others. There will be tough times; the key is not to quit!

We’ve been impressed with Dreamfree LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
