Melanie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Ever since I could remember, my love for fashion and sense of style grew and inspired me to the point where it led me to create my own personal clothing brand. It was always a dream of mine to have my own business so I thought to myself, why not just go for it? This was such a HUGE step for me to take because it was all very new to me. After so much time going around it, in 2021 I finally decided it was time for me to just go for it. All I needed was to set my mind and be prepared for everything that comes with starting your own business. Sometimes taking risks is all we need. Thankfully, this journey has been worthwhile thanks to my family, friends and loved ones. Most importantly, my lovely customers who are all so extremely supportive and make everything 1000% worth it! I’m beyond excited to see what the future hold for Melanie’s Boutique!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a business is NOT a smooth road at all. It definitely requires so much time, effort and energy and sometimes I beat myself up for it because I feel like there’s always something I can be doing to make it better. I am a college student so of course college requires a lot of my time as well so it can get overwhelming but that’s when I push myself even harder knowing I am capable of overcoming certain situations in order for my business to succeed. I put my blood, sweat and tears into my small business so of course, it can be very discouraging when I don’t meet a certain goal I set for myself but I don’t let that get to me because all the good days overlook the bad ones making it all worth it in the end.
We’ve been impressed with Shop Melanie’s Boutique, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Shop Melanie’s Boutique is a Latina female-owned clothing business based in Coachella, CA. I drive to Los Angeles and handpick each and every item and put so much thought into everything I bring into my store because I am dedicated to bring the very best for everyone who supports my brand! My heart gets overwhelmingly excited every time an order gets placed and never take it for granted. My goal and strongest desire for my brand is to make my customers feel 1000% confident while wearing Melanie’s Boutique! Every single order placed is always sent out with the cutest personalized thank you cards, girly stickers, business card, and a handwritten note I give to all of my customers who purchase included with a special discount code!
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very outgoing, friendly and humble person! I always enjoyed meeting new people and building new friendships. Since I was little, I was always the ‘loud’ one in my family because I enjoy having a good time with whoever I’m with. Since I was a little girl, I was always into girly things like makeup, plastic heels, etc. yet still to this day nothing has changed.
