Hi Megan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a CEO, comedian, and SAG actor who loves to create my own digital content when I’m not growing digital brands for others. I began my career as an actor but quickly discovered my interest in other aspects of filmmaking, which led me to create my own digital brand. Since 2012, I have garnered a social media following of over 300,000 followers on social media, produced and hosted a Spotify original show, and written, produced, and starred in two Amazon series.
As an actor, I’ve appeared in both comedic and dramatic series and feature films on networks such as Amazon, TruTV, and Kevin Hart’s LOL Network. I’ve also worked behind the camera as an associate producer at Steve Carell’s Carousel Productions.
Today, I’m the co-owner and CEO of Wake & Make Media, a full-scale digital marketing agency and production house that has worked with large and small brands, including Ciroc, Amazon, Miss Universe, PBR, MTV, and more. When I’m not creating digital content for brands and businesses, I’m spreading laughter online and breaking down the craziest and most humorous news stories under the handle @MeganMakesComedy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say that the path to success is easy, and I learned that for myself early on in my career. The entertainment industry is incredibly competitive, so it’s natural to hear “no” far more than “yes”. However, if you truly have a passion for film and tv, that passion will drive you forward, despite your obstacles. I learned that struggles aren’t always a bad thing and that they can truly propel you forward if you push through them.

Wake & Make Media is a full-scale digital marketing company and production house that was founded by me and my husband, Corey Turner, in 2019. Wake & Make Media began in the heart of Los Angeles by two passionate filmmakers who had spent over a decade working both in front of and behind the camera.
The concept for Wake & Make began when Corey and I decided to apply our knowledge of long-form, scripted content to short-form videos for brands and businesses looking to expand their reach. Today, Wake & Make Media services brands, influencers, and companies throughout the country with high-quality, impactful short-form videos. With our extensive background in storytelling, we know how to create captivating videos that effectively convey your message.
I’d say the biggest thing that sets Wake & Make Media apart from other marketing and production companies is that we approach marketing and brand building from a filmmaker’s lens and hone in on the unique story behind the artist, business, or brand.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
When Corey and I first began launching Wake & Make Media, we didn’t really know what we were doing to be totally honest. Building a business from the ground up is hard and you kind of have to just just learn as you go. In 2020, when the Covid pandemic hit, Corey and I were worried that we’d have to shut down our plans for Wake & Make and re-think our entire plan. However, we took a risk and stuck it out, and didn’t give up even when it got tough.
I’ve always been an inherent risk taker, but I think it’s important to separate the idea of taking a risk from being careless. I think risk taking is great, and some of the most successful people in the world can contribute to their success to taking risks. However, if you’re going to take a risk, you need to weigh out the pros and cons and really think about it before you dive in.
