Hidden Gems: Meet Jules Parle of Face of Jules

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jules Parle.

Hi Jules, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I knew from early on that Aesthetics was what I was meant to pursue. Looking back I wasn’t sure how to get started or if there was even a way to make a living doing it, but I trusted that my innate desire wouldn’t lead me astray. After graduating, I moved to Los Angeles and took on any skincare job that would hire me to gain experience and expertise in the field.

Truth be told I worked for pennies on the dollar at first and was treated horribly by many bosses and managers. As time progressed, I began to wonder what I was doing and if I should even continue pursuing the Aesthetics industry, I felt extremely discouraged. But instead of packing up and throwing in the towel and heading back to my hometown (Temecula), I pressed in deeper taking classes, sitting in on webinars, and learning from those truly succeeding in the industry. I used my knowledge as a power to elevate me to new heights and new job opportunities that I liked and enjoyed. I worked for many reputable and prestigious Doctors, Spas owner, and holistic wellness centers in the Los Angeles area. I gained an extensive amount of experience from mentors and business owners and enjoyed absorbing all that I could.

The funny thing is, I never imagined I would ever own my own clinic. Although it’s truly been the best thing that has ever happened to me like most entrepreneurs, the road to success hasn’t been easy. My last job before going out on my own was at a high-end Aesthetic company in the heart of Los Angeles. I was there for over two years and worked hard to build a solid clientele and one day out of the blue the owner tells me she’s shutting her business down and closing shop in the next 2 weeks. I was shocked, scared and completely overwhelmed, stuck scrambling not knowing how I would pay my bills. I contemplated long and hard and decided instead of working for someone else, I would take a leap of faith and go out on my own, starting up Face of Jules Est. 2017

I began renting a room from a Dr. I worked at once a week on Mondays. I took my clients the remainder of the week and after just a few months I realized I was outgrowing the space. I saved up and invested in a move to a larger building about a year after starting up Face of Jules. I’m still in this space today and now have two rooms, full schedules and employees that are like family to me. It all came full circle and I thank God every day for giving me the strength to persevere through the hard times and always having a plan laid out for me. I’m grateful I have the ability to create a workspace for others in the industry that is pleasant, prosperous, rewarding, and enjoyable.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My struggle as a business owner has come from fear of moving too quickly and losing everything. It’s hard to know when the right time to expand is, hire new people, create a product line, and still have time in the day to enjoy life and not have it blow you by.

I’ve had to hire and fire people, even friends in the past that didn’t work out for one reason or another, and it was extremely disheartening. I now have a strict rule not to hire existing friends which I strongly recommend to other small business owners. I feel it’s a messy place mixing business and pleasure.

With that being said, cherish the people in your work life that are in your corner, treat your staff with integrity and respect, and be passionate about what you do and I’m convinced one way or another it will work itself out. Also, never stop learning because in this field, things are always changing and developing.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that the city is filled with so many fun things to do, so many places to see and so much to experience. I’ve been here for over a decade and I still feel as though I haven’t seen half of what Los Angeles has to offer.

I dislike the post-pandemic homelessness, It’s heartbreaking to see so many desperate people suffering in a city that’s worth so much money. I pray we can do better, I try to be gentle and kind and giving whenever I get the opportunity to do so.
