Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Cortez and Cindy Espinoza.
Hi Jonathan and Cindy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up as the oldest children we shared similar goals, which included a main goal of creating something that can help our family progress. We just didn’t know what it was but we always believed there was something we had to come up with that was innovative, we always had these conversations over some food, dessert or drinks, little did we know what we were looking for was right in front of us. Living in Mexico for a year due to Jonathan playing professional basketball we tried so much food and experienced so many food concepts and were inspired by the creativity out there. When we came up with the idea of chocolate-dipped cheesecake with cool toppings, we thought to ourselves, “There’s no way someone isn’t doing it already”, to our surprise there wasn’t anyone in the United States doing it, so we jumped on it right away. We started selling cheesecake from home during Covid, quickly we gained popularity and before we knew it there was a line of cars outside our home waiting to grab cheesecake. Eventually, we started doing big night markets and now our cheesecake is available on the Las Vegas Strip & getting ready to open up a full-blown restaurant in the city of Long Beach.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road! Some of the early struggles included coming up with a cheesecake recipe, neither of us enjoyed baking but we knew that if we learned how to bake a great cheesecake our lives would change forever, and we fell in love with the process. Another struggle was financial, it was hard to quit our everyday jobs and gamble it all on some chocolate-dipped cheesecake, becoming both of our full-time jobs. We believe that the hardest part has been trusting the process and believing in something that sometimes makes you feel like you want to give up; we’ve had hard days where we’ve felt like we were stuck, but we are glad we never quit; every moment has been worth it for
We’ve been impressed with Drips Cheesecake, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Drips Cheesecake is a brand specializing in chocolate-dipped cheesecake on a stick. We are known to have revolutionized the way people view and eat traditional cheesecake. We bake our own cheesecake and dip it in either white or milk chocolate then cover it in different variety of toppings that include Oreos, Fruity Cereal, Strawberry Shortcake Crunch and many other cool toppings. We are mostly proud of the movement we have created through dessert, Drips Cheesecake is no longer just a cheesecake business it has become a hub for people to come together through amazing dessert no matter who you are, what you look like, and where you are from. Our brand uses sports & music to connect with our followers, creating a special place in our community. We are excited to open our location in Long Beach and looking forward to creating moments with our fanbase that we now consider family!

Yes, if you have a dream, chase it, do not let anyone tell you it’s not possible. If we can do it, you can too! The only thing that has kept us going is not giving up, that’s the key! There will be a lot of sacrifices and it will not be easy but it will definitely be worth it!
