Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Ung.
Hi Joe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been in the bagel business going on 19 years now. Nine years ago, my wife, (and business partner), Desirea and I came up with this idea of a community-based bagel/coffee shop.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like the saying goes, “Nothing good comes easy!” We’ve had so many obstacles along the way. From bad contractors to business debt to the closure of businesses, disloyal employees, to break-ins… the list goes on and on, but I would do it all over again. Those were lessons and blessings in disguise.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Cassidys Corner Cafe?
We like to think that we are more than a bagel cafe. We are a staple in every community we are in. We believe in community over competition. If you do what’s right for your community, the money will follow. We don’t chase the money. And we love to help the next small business.
How do you think about happiness?
God first. Family second. God is the reason that we have everything we have. We teach our girls that it’s not about what you have but how we use it to help others.
