Today we’d like to introduce you to Jody Hou.
Jody, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I found love for photography in high school and continued with it as a hobby throughout college. However, it wasn’t until 2020, that I started shooting photos in a gym that I was working at. The photos were a hit with the hoopers and they started inviting me to other gyms to shoot them. I would say it was a combination of showing up to places and events and showing out by posting work on Instagram, that got me to where I am today. In 2020, I set my goals on reaching the highest levels of basketball, and today I’m blessed to be able to shoot local NBA and Gleague games.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely hasn’t been the easiest road, but probably not the toughest either. I’ve been blessed to have made so many dope connections along my journey. As a freelancer, there are plenty of struggles that come with the territory. One of them was getting people to take me seriously as an entrepreneur/business while suffering from imposter syndrome as I reached new heights. Another was setting up a business properly while juggling the creative work. I’m grateful for every part of the journey as I learn from my experiences and mistakes.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about WYDJODY?
I am currently a freelance sports photographer for hire.
