Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Escalera.
Hi Jennifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my journey into the world of healing as a child. I grew up Catholic and was very drawn to the ritualistic aspects of mass and prayer. I used to “sing” to God when I was home alone because that was my way of releasing my pain while connecting to something that I couldn’t see but knew was present in my life. It felt so natural to me. As a young girl, I knew that I was going to help people. While I no longer am a practicing Catholic, I am very much a spiritualist, mystic, and believer of ancestral wisdom.
After I became a licensed clinical social worker, I started my spiritual business in 2008 as a holistic psychotherapist. It was a pivotal moment for me, not just professionally but personally as well. As a Latina, it was essential for me to create a sacred and safe space where spirituality, faith, sensitivity, intuition, and healing intergenerational traumas amongst other Latinas and women of color could openly discuss and embrace these areas of their lives without shame or judgment.
One aspect of myself I kept hidden though was my identity as an energy healer. I offered what some might call “alternative” healing practices only to my private clients. It wasn’t that I was ashamed of this part of me; I just wasn’t sure how to share it with the world yet.
Fast forward to 2015, everything changed when I became a mother. It was then that I received a powerful intuitive download from my guides. They told me it was time to step into the role of Teacher and start sharing my knowledge of energy work and different healing modalities with other healers. This was the birth of The Mystic Living School.
I started a professional certification program in 2020, during the beginning of the pandemic. This program wasn’t just about learning different healing techniques; it was about tapping into our ancestral medicine and helping people get to the root cause of their suffering.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of meeting and working with so many incredible healers, especially women of color healers, empaths, and leaders.
It’s been incredibly rewarding to see them grow and flourish in their own communities. I have created an Apprenticeship for Advanced Healing Practitioners and a Membership Mentorship for healing practitioners who want to grow their spiritual businesses.
While I no longer offer psychotherapy, I still provide 1:1 private energy healing cleanses, community sound baths, and workshops on a variety of energy healing modalities. My journey has been one of self-discovery, empowerment, and transformation. And I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to share this journey with others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I had to heal my limiting beliefs about being a professional healer and making a living from it. I had to dig deep into my inner guidance to acknowledge that I am worthy of this path that I am blessed to have. I’ve also had to work through my money blocks and being able to charge my rates at a comfortable level that would support me and my family. I had to learn how to become a business owner. I didn’t have any role models to go to for business questions or even how to manage work-life balance. The answers came from the various self-help, business mentorship, and spiritual mentors I’ve had over the last 20+ years. The support has also come from the community itself.

The Mystic Living School is a spiritual business offering a variety of training programs, workshops, and resources for healers, empaths, and leaders. What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when we used to go to San Diego and spend time on the beach and riding bikes and eating whatever we wanted, lol.
