Today we’d like to introduce you to Janae Cardona.
Hi Janae, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Aftering coaching cheerleading for 10+ years in both the non-profit and school settings, I opened my own cheerleading and tumbling gym. We started renting floor space from a gymnastics gym in their off-hours. Shortly thereafter, we found our own small space to rent. As we grew, we needed more space and moved into our current location. Owning a business is a lot of hard work, but it’s my passion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to success is never a straight line. There have been many learning experiences along the way and each has taught me a lot. For example, moving into a new, bigger space was a huge learning experience as I didn’t plan financially for all the new equipment that would need to be purchased to fill the space that twice the size of our previous location. There were definitely times of struggles and hardships. COVID has put every small business owner to the test, time and time again!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Confidence, Integrity, Respect, Strength. These are our pillars which we wish to install in every child who walks through our doors. We teach tumbling and cheerleading to ages 2.5-18. We supplement our athletic training with character development and strive to make children the best version of themselves. Our family atmosphere is a second home to many of our athletes; we celebrate every victory and want every child to feel special. We are proud of this MCFamily we have and want our clients to remember their time at our gym fondly.
We offer many services, such as tumbling classes, cheerleading classes, competitive cheer teams, birthday parties, private lessons, and more!
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The biggest risks I’ve taken is moving into new spaces. When I first took the risk of signing a lease on our first location, I was beyond frightened. It was a big amount of money and to sign a contract to be responsible for those fees was scary.
