Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Perren.
Hi Heather, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a former elementary school teacher and I found Lagree Fitness after having my triplets in 2010. I was looking for a workout to get back into shape and after one workout, the choice was clear. Before long, I was obsessed with the workout, and in 2015, when the kids were entering Kindergarten, I decided to get certified in the Lagree Method. In 2020, I was hand-selected and appointed by Sebastien Lagree as a Senior Master Trainer for Lagree Fitness.
2020 was a pivotal year for me, and I had to switch from teaching in the studio on the Lagree Megaformer to the new Lagree Microformer with virtual workouts. Thanks to a loyal following who enjoyed my creative and inspiring workouts, it paved the way for me to form Lagreeing at Home with my co-founder, Lexi Heinzer. Over three years later our business is thriving and growing, showing that home fitness is a fantastic option to complement in-studio or gym workouts.
In addition to my work as Senior Master Trainer for Lagree Fitness and running Lagreeing at Home, I’m also the director of community relations and events for Lagree Fitness. I have the privilege of working side by side with Sebastien Lagree uniting the Lagree community and growing the brand awareness.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like with anything in life, there are always challenges. For me, I had never run a business, let alone a virtual business, and definitely not with a partner I had never met before. This could have been a recipe for disaster, but as each roadblock came up, we handled it and continued to grow and learn from each obstacle. Learning as we went allowed us to appreciate the business, the clients, and each other so much deeper because it was our blood, sweat, and tears.
We’ve been impressed with Lagreeing at Home, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After years of teaching on the Megaformer at my local studio, I was forced to pivot with the shutdown in March of 2020. In July of 2020, I realized that another instructor, whom I had never met at the time, was either going to be my biggest competition or my best business partner. I, thankfully, decided on the latter and partnered with Lexi Heinzer to form Lagreeing at Home. Starting with a small group of members, we quickly exploded and have grown to have members from all over the world. This allows us the ability to offer Lagree trainers from around the world to be part of our LAH team as well. We offer over 1000 Lagree On Demand Classes in addition to our Daily Live classes. We launched the first virtual Lagree iOS + Android app in December of 2021 allowing even more options for Lagree fitness virtual classes and we continue to set the bar for virtual Lagree fitness with premium classes and offerings for our members.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Collaboration with others — No one can do everything on their own. You must find someone or multiple people who share your vision. I truly believe that the more you can join forces with others, the more success will come your way. When I work with Sebastien Lagree, we look at collaborating with other businesses when we do events to help make our events successful and help expand their businesses as well. When I started Lagreeing at Home, I found my business partner and knew she would be a fantastic match because if we were going to become successful, I couldn’t do it on my own. Collaborating with others is a great way to gain success and grow in so many ways.
