

Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Anthony.
Hi Greg, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m from Boston, born and raised. My sister has been a realtor on the East coast for over 10 years. I knew I wanted to get into real estate here in California; the market is like no other. I was working for the City of Los Angeles for almost three years when I moved here at the end of 2016. I was unexpectedly laid off due to budget cuts in 2019. I decided to study for the state exam to be a licensed realtor in California. I passed on my first attempt and joined Keller Williams of Beverly Hills. I worked there for a year and a half. I had the opportunity to join one of the top producing teams with Compass and now I am currently part of the Aaron Kirman Group.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to where I am present day has been anything but smooth! Any sales position where you rely solely on commission can be tough and scary. As an realtor, your number one job is lead generation. Ive struggled with this because I am not from here so my sphere of influence was very small. The market here in LA is very expensive and so my peers weren’t in a position to purchase homes. On top of that, I dove into the real estate industry right when the pandemic hit. The market has been inflated which made things even tougher. People were hesitant to purchase homes because they were so unsure of the market and the direction it was going in. I had to think outside the box.

It has been an exciting few months for the Aaron Kirman Group, who has just recently finished starring in a new show for CNBC called Listing Impossible which is slated to air this fall, as well as the opening and expansion of their new office in the heart of Beverly Hills. There is no telling what is next for this powerhouse team of talented individuals.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
My biggest lesson learned from Covid was that even in a pandemic, life and bills don’t stop. A lot of people were negatively impacted by Covid; people lost their jobs and their homes. I refused to be a victim and so I used that as motivation to get my real estate business running off the ground. I decided that I didn’t want to work for anyone else. Fast forward to today, yes I am part of a team but I am my own boss and the fate of my future relies solely on myself and how hard I am willing to work to get to the top.
