Hidden Gems: Meet Emma Vollrath of Emma Lou the Label

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Vollrath.

Hi Emma, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I get asked this question, it makes me think of how much progress has been made since I decided to start my own athlesuire line in October of 2019. I didn’t plan on starting my own business, but after dealing with my own mental health struggles, I decided to become a personal trainer to help other women feel better about themselves – mentally and physically.

More than a handful of the women I had trained expressed to me that they wanted to feel and look good naked. Whether that be in front of their partners or alone, whatever it was, it was enough for me to want to help them get to those goals. I wanted to create fashionable athlesuire, but also make it innovative so that it provides a solution. It took me months of testing different sweat-inducing fabrics to find one that could be placed inside of the clothing and produce results. After the fabrics were sourced, I could work on the design aspect so that it produced results and hugged you in all the right places. A few months later, I launched my first few pieces, and ever since then I have been so in love with having a business. I still have so much growing to do and pieces to release, but I am just getting started.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it’s always a smooth road, but it’s definitely been worth it. I will never forget the very first time I was releasing pieces, I opened the boxes of clothing to sort them out and all of the logos were printed upside down! This was also two weeks before I was supposed to launch, so I was pretty frazzled. But now I just kind of laugh because I have come so far since that moment and it taught me not to take everything so seriously always.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Emma Lou the Label is an innovative athleisure brand designed to help you look and feel good naked. We specialize in designing our Sculpt & Sweat bottoms which have a sweat-inducing fabric on the inside of the waistband. The sweat-inducing fabric helps reduce water weight and bloating, release toxins, and increases fat oxidation. What sets us apart from other brands is that we try to be as fashion-forward and innovative as possible by creating something that makes you feel good not only on the outside but on the inside too. Emma Lou is a brand disrupting the space, and we will continue to bring new ideas and designs to the table.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
You’re going to be judged regardless of what you do, so you might as well do whatever it is that’s calling you and let people miss out if they don’t want to be apart of it. You just have to focus on what’s best for you and your business and trust the process.
